Switching 2 numbers between 2 accounts.

Hi all,

Wondering if this is possible. I want to be able to do a number port between two accounts.

Basically I have 2 public mobile accounts. I want to be able to port the numbers between them.

Sim 1 gets sim 2 number

Sim 2 gets sim 1 number.

Is this possible?

@computergeek541  FYI swapping was never allowed. For a time you could move 1 number to another account but the account losing the number had to accept a new random number.

Thanks. I know that much of the time, the reason for this request was to keep a promotional plan but port the other number out, but sometimes, customers did wish to keep both phone numbers. I know this isn't necessarily releated to Public Mobile, but Telus Mobility used to do something called a triangle swap.

@Nezgar

I knew you would have some helpful suggestions. Looks like only you read the other thread vs the OP so it remains on the DL......you can see how we were all surprised by that turn of events.

I believe if you change the e-mail address associated with your community account to one that matches a different self-serve account, the community reward will then flow to the other account. Just make sure that the case matches between the two exactly, mine were not applying initially because the kiosk dude typed them on my activation as all UPPER CASE...

If you are sharing between two people you would have to inform your contacts and i bet @Nezgar  would have some voicemail options for you to use during the transition stage once you swap sim cards.

Well, other than just adding a blurb to your voicemail announcement along the lines of "If you are trying to reach XX (other person) then please hang up and dial XXX.XXX.XXXX". Another idea is to set the busy/declined conditional call forwarding to the other persons number so that if you see an incoming call that you obviously recognise as a call for the other person, you just decline the call and it will ring their phone instead:

*67*NXXNXXXXXX#

Undo with ##67#

Unanswered calls, and calls while your phone is offline/unreachable will flow to your own voicemail as usual...

Edit: Wow... Mods were able to swap the numbers? Lucky! Maybe I am confusing another thread. Good stuff if it worked out - cheers!

@r1lee

Do you feel lucky? Are the phone numbers originally telus/koodo/pm numbers? Do you really feel lucky? If you have answered yes, yes and most definetly yes!  Then read the thread below and determine how the precedent set by that moderator can help your cause........

So here is the reasoning. Sim 1 has all the discounts. Sim 2 only has auto pay discount. Since PM doesn't offer esim, we are looking at porting out sim 1. So I wanted to do a number swap between the two.  Then the phone # on sim 2 will still receive the discount and then I can port out the phone # on sim 1 which is now on sim 2.

Hope that makes sense. Can I port a number out and still continue to keep that account going with a new number?  If so, I can do that then port sim#2 over to the account.

PM will not swap numbers between accounts as stated from others. Once you port a number out of PM that account is closed automatically.

@HALIMACS

If they are family members or the bills get paid from the same wallet it shouldnt make that much difference but if its a grandfathered plan they dont want to lose then that can present an issue.

Hi @darlicious

That's what I figured since the OP originally wanted to swap phone numbers. (albeit without swapping SIM's - which can't be done as @kselmak & @computergeek541 write)

The only detriment I can see (and it may be a moot point in their cases) is that swapping SIM's will also swap account info/monthly credits to the opposite person.

@r1lee

The only workable solution is @HALIMACS suggestion. I swapped sim cards between my two accounts soon after joining pm. I had to inform most of my friends and family of my new preferred phone number and other than my community reward going towards my cheaper plan its worked out fine. I also have a dual sim phone so i dont have to worry about a second phone.

Very frequently requested but unfortunately not possible.

If the two people don't want each other's number just pick a fresh new one.

I have advised people when i promote Publicmobile, is you are attached to your number port it over to fongo and you never have to port it again, they have free forwarding included in their free unlimited service, this way you don't care where you are and who is provider you always have your good old number

Hi @r1lee

Do you manage and pay both accounts? (like are they for two of your dependents, or yourself and one dependent or significant other)

If so, why not just swap the SIM cards?

Sorry, but Public Mobile cannot help withthis request. They will no longer swap phone numbers between accounts.
