A couple of months ago, I switched from Public Mobile to Telus as my then current plan with Public Mobile was to be discontinued. I did not realize until after the change was made that it did not include any data. I wish to switch back to Public Mobile and enroll in the $25/mo 3GB plan. Chatbot has provided me with the instructions to make the change and how to keep my existing number. Is Telus automatically notifed that I have switched to Public Mobile when I put the Public Mobile SIM card in the phone? Or do I need to inform them personally?

Sounds like you signed up on Telus prepaid plan for $100/year.
Unfortunately, prepaid plans are non refundable with Telus but check with Telus.

hi @ScottR33
yes, Telus would be notified
make sure your Telus account is active.
you will then need to setup as a new account with PM. If you choose physical sim, you will need to get a new sim card
then use PM app to activate. After payment step is the phone number step. Choose Bring in your number, and provide Telus account number.
After you completed the activation, please keep your Telus sim in the phone. Telus will send you a text within couple hours and you need to reply Yes to approve the port
