Switched from Sasktel, getting message phone number not registered to the device

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone is getting the same message. I transferred my old phone number over to Public and I am now getting a message that says 

“This number is registered to your Apple Account, but is not associated with this phone. You can keep using the number for iMessage and FaceTime until it expires”

what does mean?  Can anyone help?

hi @RichelleB 

first try reset networks settings on the phone

if that does not work, go to iMessage settings , remove the phone number , reboot,then  reenter the phone number to reregister
