Since I will be in the US for some time this month, I decided to change my plan to one of the CAN-US-Mex plans for a month as the addon was only for 15 days which wasnt long enough. I was previously on an old $19 plan with 1GB data. Before switching to the CAN-US-Mex plans, I checked what plans were available and I could see that there was a $20 plan with 1GB data available so I figured I would simply return to this one after this month. Now that I have switched to the CAN-US-Mex plan, I am no longer seeing the $20 plan in the list. The cheapest option is $25 for 10GB data which I dont need. What has this $20 plan I was seeing no longer listed? Is there a way for support to give me access to it?

@hTideGnow You're probably right, although sometimes there are plans in accounts that are not offered in Shop. It was @eddieO that mentioned gradually being able to go lower in this thread but there's probably a limit as to how low one can go. In his case it was down to $25 which is still not low enough for @LegPhon

hI @LegPhon
sad to tell you, I am pretty sure $20 plan won't pop up after you changed to $25. As said, $20 and $19 plans are only for those with $13 and $15 plans

@LegPhon You probably already know this, but make sure to select "change on renewal" and not "change now" when you switch plans otherwise you lose the remainder of the current plan with no refund.

Thanks for that info. I might try the $25 and see if another cheaper option pops up after that. If not I will decide what to do from there.

hi @LegPhon
yes, some plans are new activations only. And yes, available plans are now targeted and based on your profile. $20 or $19 plans are more for subscribers with $13 and $15 plans and not offered for anyone else

@LegPhon It's been suggested in the community that if you switch to the lowest plan available then in the next while a lower one than that might become available to you also. Unfortunately having the better deals for new customers only is something that other carriers do also, so once you switch you are potentially in the same situation. When you're looking for a new carrier bear in mind that not all other carriers offer roaming or add ons, even to just the USA, so make sure to check before you switch if you plan to go back there at some time. An alternative to look at might be the Telus $100 a year plan (works out to $8.33 a month) which has a promo at the moment for unlimited calling and texting plus 2GB a month of data. After the year it reverts to 400 + 400 and no data, but you might find something else you like when that time comes. See
https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/prepaid/plans
Caveat, I haven't checked if roaming is available on the Telus plan.

Thats so shady! The cheaper plans are also available to new subscribers. Way to punish existing loyal customers. Thanks for the answer but it might be time to shop elsewhere.

yes, plan offer to change is based on your current plan. It is not unusual that after you changed to some high priced plan, you might not see your old plan anymore. You will still be offered with some cheaper plans to change to but you won't see all the available plans Sorry, if $25 1GB plan is the cheapest one PM offers you, you might want to take it for now
