Hey folks,
I recently moved to public mobile and I was wondering if I could get myself a new number (I moved my old number from my old carrier here as I was not able to choose the last four digits on PM while I was registering). Is it possible to change number here? And is it possible to find a number ending with 1773?
Thanks a lot for your time, so far I'm very glad I've joined PM,

Happy to hear the Moderators were able to accomodate you with the number request.
Welcome to PM!

And look on the bright side - depending on your previous carrier you're likely about to have better service and/or a lower price. 🙂
Anywho, welcome to PM!
Thanks, I won't lie, I did save some bucks in the process 😉

I contacted a mod and they offered me numbers ending with 1773. However none started with 514, sadly.
Also when I registered at PM 2 days ago, I did not have any option to enter 4 digits to choose a number, thus the question.
Thanks everyone for the help 😄

@wetcoaster Sorry, I should have clarified that case for Vancouver only. But i am sure this is the case for those in GTA and other popular cities.

But why would this option not be available when changing the number later on?
At the end you are getting a new number anyways.
They also don't allow popular area codes. For example, the 778 area code is not available when you change the number but available during activation. This seems like they are keeping good numbers for new customers rather than existing users who might keep changing every month.
This doesn't sound right as a general statement. Where are you located? Depending on your local calling area (the second set of 3 digits) you still have a choice between 250/604 and 778 (which is overlapping all of BC)... I have not yet encountered a 236-yyy-xxxx in real life. (236 is the next overlap area code assigned to BC)
As an example for a number change (after activation) on Vancouver Island: Parksville seems to have plenty of 250-228-xxxx and 250-927-xxxx numbers left, whereas Campbell River only has 778-348-xxxx numbers for grabs.

@NDesai thanks for your response.
Yes, I have only tired it during activation when getting a "new number".

@Manawrote:@ShawnC13, @mimmo, @NDesai, From what I remember, think there is an option to enter the last 4 preferred digits. If any combination of those digits are available , it is displayed to you.
I remember helping out a couple of people getting this about 4 months ago.
During activation only.

Post back either way. Will be good to know.

Alrighty, I'ill try sending a message to the mods. Who knows... 😉

Although the Self-Serve site doesn't let you choose (other than the random number) I don't think it would hurt sending a private message to the moderators to see if they can help you with this.
In your message make sure you include your email address and the number you have right now as well as your request for a particular number part.
It's worth a shot and you won't know unless you try! 🙂

You could possibly ask the mods... Who knows... I was sure there was an option of selecting digits but that might have been when activating. Its been a while and my memory isn't as good as it used to be. Lol

@bilal684 You can only select and generate the number you want during the activation. But it is not always available. If you have some free time, you can keep refreshing the list of number you get by selecting another city and then back to your city. Each time it generates different numbers. You can play around with that and you might just get lucky.
Alternatively, you can get a cheap plan else where, get the number and port in to your public mobile account.

Aww,
Well too bad I guess, I would've liked to change my phone number to one ending with 1773 and starting with 514... Oh well, too bad. 😕
Thanks though,

Hello,
For some reason, all I can do is select a number that are generated randomly by selfserve... I cannot choose the last four numbers 😞

You can change you number in self serve. Its under plans ( I think)
It generates numbers but
Edit: I also think there is an option to select your own. (Only during activation)
