I have the 15 day roaming plan, roaming is on, on the AT&T network, can text and data works but I can't receive or make calls. Can anyone please help?

Wasn't able to fund anything in the forum, unable to submit a ticket and @CS_Agent didn't seem to work when I tried to send a message... Any help would be appreciate

So was it turned on when you looked at it? Or did you see it and it was off and you turned it on?
But again, the iphone 8 is known to use volte so it's all good. Just trying to nail down exactly what you did and what you had.

I was indeed able to make and receive calls.

And did you turn it on and can you make and receive calls? Or was it already on and connecting to T-Mobile worked anyway? Yes the iphone 8 is the oldest iphone that volte works for this place.

Hello@hTideGnow , I did as you suggested and I do see the VoLTE option now. Thanks!

HI @Wendy99

when you have a chance, test connecting to AT&T and it back to 4G and check if VoLTE works.  thanks for helping out to test

@dust2dust i have an iPhone 8 running iOS 16.7. 2

Is this a pre-iphone8? So it looks like you don't get to manually choose 2G GSM. That's a thing with a current OS. So you're at the mercy of the automatic switch down to 2G GSM in the phone. My experience (not with an iphone) was that some areas would and some areas wouldn't.

Thank you, that worked! For anyone else in the same situation, my phone doesn't have VoLTE (in Cellular data options/Voice and data I had only LTE or 3g as options, nothing about VoLTE. Then in Network Selection I switched off automatic and selected T mobile. And kept the data option on LTE. Had issues calling again later on so had to close out of settings and switch back and forth a few times before it worked again. Gotta love technology.

@dust2dust Appreciated!

@Meow- His last sentence. Or part of mine. Use 2G GSM on T-Mobile.

What to do if customer has no VoLTE?

Do you know if your phone has been enabled for volte here yet? If it's not then the only talk option is connecting to T-Mobile. Then hopefully the phone can switch down to 2G GSM itself or you would need to be able to do it yourself. Text will also work there. Then when you want data switch back to 4G LTE or 5G (only T-Mobile does 5G). AT&T will do 4G LTE.

HI @Wendy99

if you just want a refund now as you are back in Canada, please submit ticket with CS agent :

But if you are still in US, try to change the network mode to 4G or LTE, make sure VoLTE is enabled and try both AT&T and T-Mobile

if still fails, change the network to 2G and try again using T-Mobile
