In the last two days I purchased an U.S. add-on for my phone. Inadvertently I must have purchased it twice. One time I thought I did not press "purchase". I was just seeing how much it would cost. Then I purchased it for real. Now I have two charges on my credit card? How do I reverse one add-on

I knew the OP was seeing them somewhere I just wasn't sure where since I have never purchased a US roaming add on.....thus as you say a picture is worth a thousand words. But I do have a pretty good imagination...😃

 @darlicious : As indicated in the above images, talk and text roaming add-ons don't show up on the overview page. They show up after clicking Plan details.

I see it as that they aren't countable items. The overview page shows countable items.

@FourJacks

Your 10 day roaming add on will be shortened by a few days. Are you going to be in the US more than a week? If so I would recommend opening a support ticket and asking the CSA if they would remove the add on and crediting your account so you can repurchase it tomorrow. If you don't need the full 10 days then I would just leave it as is. Keep in mind US roaming add ons work on a 24 hour clock (10×24=240 hours). So it will expire at the same time you bought it 10 days later.

leaving tomorrow, bright and early.

@FourJacks

Great. Now that you understand what you have purchased when do you leave for the US?

Exactly. Your $15 add-on is shown in 2 separate parts (Talk + Texts).

Thank you.

@FourJacks

Did you purchase the $15 talk and text US roaming add on? Is your account showing a line for each portion? A screenshot would be easier for us to explain your purchase vs our imaginations. (Since I have never purchased one to see how it displays in the accounts overview.)

Edit:

Which US roaming add on is listed in your transaction history?

@FourJacks

Payments reflected in your transaction history do not show the tax. This is done for simplicity across all accounts regardless of local tax rates. Taxes are shown when you make a top up payment before you confirm and submit the top up amount and are then seen in the charges to your card. Alternatively if you purchase a voucher you are charged the taxes at the time of purchase. For example in bc when you purchase a $20 voucher you pay $20+12% tax ($2.40)=$22.40. The voucher says $20 and your reciept says $22.40.

If you have purchased your US roaming add on a couple days too early contact customer support and explain your mistake. Ask them to remove the add on and credit your account and you can repurchase the add on upon your departure or when you arrive in the US.

Right, I see. But still wondering why my Public Mobile account shows 2 U.S. add-ons if they only processed one and left me with a $20 credit to my PM account? Very confusing.

I see what you're saying. They didn't charge my Public Mobile account with two add-ons. By something is still screwy??? They charged my credit card with $22.60 and $16.95 but only credited my Public Mobile account $20 and $15, so I am out the tax on the purchase that never materialized on my credit card. Oh well, it's not worth the $2.60 to go after it. I guess I deserve to pay for my own stupidity. 🙂 Thanks for the help!

The amounts charged are correct. Sales tax needs to be paid.

@FourJacks There's nothing to reverse. Leave the $20 for your renwal.

@FourJacks

Can you post screenshots of your account: Overview and Payment history?

Note: The charges to your cc include sales taxes

If there is a $20 credit, probably means only one add-on is bought, but Payment history would confirm that.

Edit: When you make a "top up" payment to your account via credit card (e.g. $10), the amount will appear first in Available Funds and the cc will charge you $10+taxes. When you make an add-on purchase, the $$ will come from Available funds.

Since you still have $20 credit  in your account, that means you had only purchase a $15 add-on.

I am totally confused! Thanks for your help.

@FourJacks

Here is some info about US roaming add ons that should help you.....

  1. While you have to have an active plan to purchase and use US roaming add ons the type of plan you have does not affect the roaming add ons features.
  2. US roaming add ons start the moment you confirm and submit your purchase in your self serve account and expire 240 hours later (10 days×24 hours).
  3. You can pre-load the funds needed to purchase the add ons in your self serve account so you only have to log in, select the US roaming add on and then confirm and submit your purchase.
  4. Wait til late as possible to purchase since they are immediately valid so on free wifi at the destination airport or stopping shortly before the border at mcd's or timmy's to buy the add on while on free wifi.
  5. If you are staying longer than 10 days you must wait a minimum of 24 hours to purchase the same US roaming add on or contact the moderators to add it before the waiting period ends.
  6. If you have two US roaming add ons with a talk feature that overlap the talk feature basically gets disabled. Avoid this....but you will have to get one removed by a moderator to get your calling feature back if this happens.
  7. After purchase reboot your phone and manually select either at&t or T-mobile to get better reception. Some areas have better coverage by either provider so when travelling around the US you will be better served by choosing the provider with better signal strength by locale.
  8. You will recieve incoming texts without any US roaming add ons. Adding the fongo app and textnow app for use on wifi are good to use for a back up plan or you could call forward your pm phone # to your fongo # before you leave Canada and purchase just the US data roaming add on. Fongo also works on mobile data (1 min=0.5mb/100 min=50mb) so you could still recieve incoming pm texts, recieve incoming pm calls to your fongo #/app, outgoing calls from your fongo number and outgoing  texts from textnow for free or small fee from fongo.
  9. All US roaming add ons have either unlimted text, talk or both. Only data has limits depending on your purchase 250mb/500mb/1gb. Once the data is consumed it will just stop you could then purchase different roaming add on, wait 24 hr to buy or contact the moderator to buy the same US roaming add on again. (* except talk as previously mentioned.)

Happy travels and Stay--Safe!

@FourJacks

First check your available funds in your account. How much is there? The amount charged to your card? Or half that amount? Check the bottom of your overview page. Do you see the US roaming add on there? You may have just added the funds to your account. If so do not buy the US roaming add on until the day you are departing for the US as they are active the moment you purchase it.

Edit:

You cannot purchase the same US roaming add on twice. The system does not allow it.

@FourJacks

Are the charges on your cc both "posted" or one is "pendimg"? If so one will disappear.

If both are posted, check the payment history in your PM account to see how many payments it shows.

You'll need to contact CS for help if there are discrepancies:

Note: If it's your mistake by making the purchase twice, you may ask (nicely) for a credit and leave the funds in your account for later use (renewal, buying other add-ons )
