Re: USA Roaming Review

Thanks for sharing this USA update @kb_mv  I’m a brand new PM customer ($36/50GB Canada-USA 5G plan) and bought for the USA service. By reading the other comments it look like I have to find out if my iPhone 11 is VoLTE whitelisted. Is there a help article on that in the PM community?  Thanks and safe travels to all.

@softech , I have a couple of quick questions:

Do I have to "activate" VoLTE on my phone?

Do you know where to look in my settings to see it is activated?

Your answers will give me peace of mind if VoLTE is active before I head to the USA in a few days.

@Dan-PM

No need to activate VoLTE.  It is automatic.

Here is some additional information about US roaming:

Interesting @DennyCrane  I seem to only have 3G at my house now. I'll be downtown later, where I'm 100% sure they have 4G/LTE and try this method. Thanks a bunch

You can test that you have VoLTE enabled while you're at home:

1) Temporarily turn WiFi off

2) Ensure your phone is connected to either 4G/LTE or 5G

3) Make a phone call and watch to see if your phone stays connected to 4G/LTE or 5G after the call connects. If it does, you have VoLTE. If it drops to 3G, it's not enabled.

4) Turn WiFi back on if desired.

@Dan-PM, just to add some reassurance, my daughter was in Buffalo, NY last week with her iPhone 11 and had zero issues, everything worked, calling, text, data. Just make sure you have your Data Roaming turned on and if you get a "Welcome to the USA... you may want to purchase a roaming add-on" message, just ignore it as it gets sent to all PM customers regardless of what plan they have.
