So are you saying that this 3G shutdown in Manitoba is also affecting Saskatchewan customers at the same time?? I understand completely that my current device is incompatible and will eventually need to be updated or else I will need to switch providers... I'm just trying to determine if the specific deadline they announced is just for Manitoba subscribers or if it's for all Public Mobile customers on the same date.

I just checked on the Telus website and my S10 is compatible with VoLTE with them! 🤷♂️🇨🇦 but not with their PM branded carrier...

As you are aware, Telus, Koodo, and Public Mobile are positioned as different service tiers and do not offer identical features (such as Wi-Fi Calling, Visual Voicemail, Caller ID name display, etc.). Given that, it is not surprising that Public Mobile also maintains quite a different VoLTE whitelist.
In fact, Public Mobile is not the only Tier 3 carrier with stricter VoLTE restrictions. All of the Big 3 carriers support the Samsung Galaxy S10 for VoLTE, yet that same phone is not compatible with any of their Tier 3 brands.
Agree or not, Tier 3 carriers generally provide more basic service and maintain a shorter list of compatible devices to simplify support and operations.
Also, the Big 3 need to make sure each brand targets a clear and distinct market segment without too much overlap.

HI @Yummy
if I remember correctly, you have an S10, too. Sorry, you will have to go with Telus if you want to keep using this end of life model. Or you can buy a latest phone with regular OS and security updates. I suggest you to check for good deals from Costco.

@BKNS27 So where is the logic for PM to 'offer' Telus' plan for $19 and claim my phone will work with Telus but not with PM???

3G shutdown will happen with all carriers so it doesn’t matter if you go to another carrier. Your phone is mostly likely older than 5 years or not a Canadian model phone. You will need a new phone with VoLTE.

For other provinces:
National: Starting March 1, 2027
However, why 3G is not fully shutdown yet in other provinces, TELUS is currently refarming the 850MHz band 5 spectrum to 4G and 5G network in some area. This involves testing and potentially altering how device uses the 850MHz (band 5) on LTE and the 1900MHz (band 2) on 3G/HSPA.
If you are in an area where the 850 MHz band has been either tested and/or refarmed, your device will still experience voice calls disruptions if it is not VoLTE compatible with PM network
Again, this might only affect some areas. So, if you have no issue at this moment, you might not have to worry about it until March 2027
