3G shutdown VoLTE support Saskatchewan

Lon

I just got the text message. I'm still rocking an S10e which is not a supported device for VoLTE according to PM. I'm on a 4G plan ($25 for 10GB a month). I also live and exclusively stay in Saskatchewan and rarely ever leave the province so I'm not worried about roaming. PM uses Telus network, which in SK resides on SaskTel infrastructure. I'm wondering if this shutdown will affect Saskatchewan customers?

A Pixel 10a will be fine.

@Lon

While your Samsung Galaxy S10  has VoLTE, it is NOT compatible with PM's VoLTE network.  You can use the  IMEI checker on this page to confirm:  https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte

Since your phone is not compatible with PM's VoLTEyour phone has been using 3G for voice, but is now affected by the 3G Network Shutdown that has just started in Manitoba:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/get-help/articles/3g-shutdown

If you’re using a 3G-only device, your phone will stop working after these dates:
Manitoba (Rural): January 12, 2026
Manitoba (Urban : Winnipeg & Brandon): Starting March 31, 2026
National: Starting March 1, 2027

There is really nothing much you can do other than to get a phone that is compatible with PM's VoLTE network.
iPhones 8 or later, Google Pixel 4 or later, Samsung S22/Flip 2/Fold 2/A15/A35/A55 or later, or other major brands of phones released after 2024 and are designed and sold for the Canadian market should work.

Eventually it will affect you in Saskatchewan yes. It's not about roaming, Public Mobile doesn't do roaming.  It's about making and receiving calls at home.

Also the plan that your on makes no difference,  that's just for speed which you access the internet.

So pretty soon you need to start phone shopping. But, you have some time yet .

@Lon  Eventually yes you will need S22 and up or iPhone 8 and up to work with public mobiles voLTE or any new for from 2024 and up when 3G gets shut down in your area
