Also if you like entering draws and winning free phones and electronics/gift cards etc you can make the change, but I would definitely recommend staying on the old plan. The only exception to that is if you know you will be leaving PM for sure in the near future, then yes migrate collect a bunch of points and go crazy!

@wetcoaster

You are correct.  Typo on my part.  Thanks for the correction.  Welcome to correct me anytime.

If you switch to new points, unable to return back to old rewards system.

@Dunkman

I know that it's frowned upon to contradict an oracle, and I apologize, but...

From everything I gathered around here I think it's safe to say that you will NOT be able to return to the old rewards program.

The choice is up to you.  Most regulars would recommend staying with the old rewards system. You will save more money overall with the old rewards.  With the points system, you will lose the easy $2/month for pre-authorized payments, but with the points system get 5% back in points for your plan cost. For example, $40 plan will get your $2/.month worth of points.

Also, the loyalty rewards is better with the old system.  The new system, just give $10 equivalent points each year, while the old rewards gives $1/month for each year with public mobile for maximum of $5/month.  So, if you stay with Public mobile for 5 years, you will get $5/month x 12 months for $60/year versus $10/year with new loyalty.

If you are on a higher month plan fee and buy lots of add ons, it might be okay to switch over.  Purchasing add ons with points is cheaper and the 5% back for your plan fee.

If you move to the points system,. you will NOT be able to return to the old rewards system.

HI @glndl14  If you have not switch yet, DON"T

Although the migration bonus is attractive, generally speaking the new rewards is not as good as the old one.  You earn less on the new one.

With the new one, the worst one is Loyalty reward.  You get only 10 points per year  regardless how long you have been with PM, rather than $1 per month after your first year, $2 per month after two and up to $5/month after 5th year and more

Log in to your Rewards (separate web site) and follow screens/prompts.

You have to collect at least 15 points in order to redeem them.

Read Community posts regarding pros and cons of Points before switching as there is no coming back to old rewards after switch.

I suggest you NOT opt out of Rewards in favour of Points. The choice is your though. Log in to your account / Rewards and you'll read all about the Points program and be able to select it if you really really want to.
