I was at store kiosk today (not official Public Mobile store) but one that carried PM SIMs until about 4 months ago. I was told PM is shutting down and merging with Koodo, others report it's the other way around.
Can anyone shed some light on this, perhaps include links?

Not that I want to rehash an old topic but...
1. I see new investment into Public features, plans, 5g, rewards (yeah I know), community, looks, branding etc. Everything is fresh and new.
2. Koodo just got stripped of the 5g plans and I see nothing innovative.
Not saying it's going to happen but it sure does kind of look that way. Remember it's usually one company that does something and the others follow. So IF (yes if) Telus were to drop Koodo, how long before Bell and Rogers do the same thing to trim the fat?

I heard the same from a mobile rep. Allegedly corporate reached out and said the merger is scheduled for Spring 2023.
On one hand I don't believe it. But on the other I see that PM is still missing crucial features (especially as we move into the new year), namely eSIM and VoLTE that Koodo does have. And of course we've already been told at least one of those things will soon be available to PM customers... kind of makes you wonder.

It would be great if Public Mobile would double to 500MB data on their $15 3g plan. I have been with Public for 3 years now with no issues at all.

It is funny, I heard Telus is shutting down Koodo. PM is fighting against Fido and Lucky,

I'd report a store like that to Telus for spreading misinformation. Maybe Telus will listen and review the stores contract, but likely won't care and will just ignore it.

The sales people at these stores would not have this infromation, but even if they did, wouldn't be authorized to speak on that matter. Public Mobile has not gave indication or notice of shutting down. Anything that anyone says here are all guesses.

That’s a continuous rumour. Or is it a devious sales tactic to sell Koodo or Telus?
OR
Did this outlet have wind (or undisclosed changes were imminent) that they would lose the option to sell SIMS and activate accounts? Stories and theories can get arms and legs.
PM is doing so well with all online, they were able to reduce 4G plan pricing. But not good enough to upgrade 3G plans.

there was this article a few months ago
https://mobilesyrup.com/2022/05/04/public-mobile-100-ercent-online-only/
all they're really saying is Telus is taking PM out of stores so that Koodo prepaid can be the cheaper brand of choice. the workers in those stores are probably told to say that. there's been too many improvements for PM to merge anytime soon.

I really doubt it. The big 3 will have 3 tiers to compete with each other.
Telus (Public), Bell (Lucky) and Rogers (Chatr).

It’s all crap. These guys have no idea what they’re talking about.

Or the other way around: Koodo staying and PM going. But, I'm thinking if anything, PM staying since Koodo offered more like VoLTE and WI-Fi calling etc which PM doesn't'. I would say Koodo was more like Rogers' Fido and PM like Chatr.

I have not heard anything like this. In my opinion, Public Mobile will be around as a 3rd tier to compete with Lucky Mobile and Chatr.
