Public Mobile legacy port , add-on 250MB/month for $2 ?

I am a Public Mobile legacy customer interested in porting to Koodo with the deal they have been texting us.  I have read in the Koodo forums that some legacy customers have been offered a data add-on of 250mb for $2.  I would be interested in getting this add-on however when I asked the manager of the Koodo store about it he didn't know what I was talking about.  Anyone else get offered that add-on or know how I can get it ?

Thanks

Hi Quest. Thanks for info.

This is interesting. You transferred one of your lines from Public to Koodo, added the 250mb @$2 Data add-on, and all works fine. And it all worked from Day-1 when you did the line-transfer?

We did migrate a $25 plan (unl talk & text), added the $2 for 250mb Data add-on. Talk & text boty work. But Data does not. Koodo is unable to fix this (or are unwilling).

I am wondering if any other users out there are in same position as me. Or if they have this $2 "250mb Data add-on" option actually working (like you). It would be nice to have comments from others in the community who have tried this.

I have an idea where the problem lies. Before I start posting long questions & details, it would be so much easier if I could chat with you. In this manner I could tell Koodo support how to finally resolve this issue for us.

If I give you my tel#, would you mind contacting me? But I'm not sure how to send you this info without posting it publicly for everyone to see...

Did you finally migrate to Koodo?   And did you put the 250mb Data add-on for $2?

Does it all work?

@Quest

You said your son migrated and has the "250mb Data add-on for $2" feature on his line.  Does the Data work?   Was he able to access a website via Data (not Wifi) from his phone?

Yes, Data have been working like a charm. Not only he was able to access a website via Data from his phone but his E-mails, Koodo App, his bank account and in fact paid his first bill through on line banking without any problem at all.

Koodo got the list or legacy customers from Public Mobile since they are both owned by Telus.  They then sent legacy customers a text message that has to be shown at the Koodo store in order to receive the promo offer.

just wondering, how does koodo knows if you are on PM legacy plan or not?

I can help you definitely. My son recently ported to Koodo very successfully (his choice not mine) with my assistance. First of all go to Corporate Kiosk and INSIST on such an add-on as a substitute for our data add-ons. They have it for Legacy Public Mobile users willing to switch to Koodo but, there is a catch, it is only one time offer It means when you decide to give it up you cannot get it again. In order your data to work they have to remove another add-on called $0 Data Block w/Pic Msg. You have to remind them about it.

Regarding Call Forwarding add-on, on the surface it looks like they added it back but, they call it Call Forwarding  PAY PER USE, so it is not free at all like on Public Mobile plans. No one is clear about it yet.

I participate often and your post is the first I have seen on this topic. The only real "glitch" that I have seen was the lack of call forwarding, which, I believe, has been resolved.
If things don't work out, come back anytime! 😎
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Luddite. I did post on the Koodo forums too.  A Public Mobile customer who was on there said that there was some talk of it on the forums here but I couldn't find anything.  I tried to get more info from him but didn't get a response.  I just wanted to see if any PM customers had received the data add-on offer.

Expect you will be better served by responding to someone on the Koodo forum who has been offered this add-on.
