'Phone is not e-sim compatible' message despite verifying compatibility

Had to verified IMEI before purchasing e-sim plan, it gave me a pass.  It's a Canadian Galaxy s20, it is e-sim compatible.

Can't submit a ticket because the button is greyed despite filling all the fields.

What do I do?

Take note that the S20 is on it's last legs with Public. It is not supported for VoLTE with Public and will not work at all for calls when 3G shuts down. It's already currently subject to a 3G surcharge when used with Public.

Hey @kenziedom

I can confirm that the S20 doesn't work very well with Public Mobile. I had two friends I set up with Public Mobile and both had the S20. Constant connection problems, dropped calls, missed calls...  you name it. Had to port them back to Telus as the phone works there with zero issues. Two options, get a new phone (which really, you shouldn't have to), or consider going to Koodo or Telus instead if you wish to stay with the brand.

The Canadian variants of Samsung Galaxy S20 (Model SM-G981W , SM-G986W, SM-G988W). ) physically contain the eSIM hardware, but the feature was not enabled by Samsung Canada. So, the stock Canadian firmware for S20 does not have "SIM Manager" menu in Settings and you cannot add an eSIM with it.

This is not a carrier issue, but how Samsung Canada limited the use of it.  You cannot activate eSIM on S20 with any Canadian carrier

@kenziedom  The s20 is in funny position here with public mobile it’s also 5G capable phone but cannot use the 5G network with public mobile like it can with Telus . One would need S21 or up to use the 5G network with public mobile

An IMEI is a very specific ID, so this is a bit ridiculous.  Thanks anyway.

hi @kenziedom

S20 eSIM might have issue with PM network.  But check with PM agent first.
