I have an issue with an iPhone 5 that I am trying to put back into service for my wife. She needs nothing more in a phone than to make calls and send texts. Very light user. Please don't tell me the iPhone 5 is a dinosaur. I know that. Should be fine for what she needs it for but can't get it to connect.
My understanding is that PM still supports LTE in Alberta. I set the phone up and installed the SIM card. Phone connected showing LTE. Made a test call. After disconnecting the call I also lost the network connection and couldn't reconnect. Rebooting the phone, switching to Airplane mode and all the other suggestions I found online did nothing. I then removed the SIM card out of my own phone and installed in the iPhone 5. Exactly the same result. One call then nothing.
What gives???

What confuses me though is that I was able to connect and make a call with either SIM. I would think if it's not supported then that wouldn't;t happen. They are messing with me.
Not really. They are upgrading the network and the phone is outdated. Using outdated phones are hit and miss at times. Only options are to update to a newer iPhone or find a provider that can use the iPhone 5 still.

You could try to reset the network settings.
But check here and enter your IMEI number to confirm your phone will work on the pm network.
