I signed up for an add on that was $30(?) and got charged $73 PLUS the usual monthly rate!

So that's the roaming add-on. Do you see the three items of roaming add-ons in your add-ons list? Do you have additional balance in your account? If so then you have the add-on but then you would have a balance. Buying the same add-on while one is active doesn't work. You may have done this accidentally. It just goes into the balance.

@Jennx - did you purchase the addon twice? Check your payment history: https://myaccount.publicmobile.ca/en/account/payment/payment-history
Any extra available funds will be used on future renewals. Note, addons only work on Active plans. So if you were thinking you could use addons without being currently subscribed to a plan, you cannot.

@Jennx was it one entry if that amount or two entries of $3x showing on CC?
If two entries, one of them could be a pending charge and only one posted charge
And you login My Account and check the Payment history?
