Old Reward Program

Friend referred me to join Public Mobile. After switched plan,  found out the reward is not like what friend said. There is no reward for setting up auto payment. Seems there is no reduce of phone bill  for each year staying with Public Mobile. Search the PM website, looks like the reward system has been changed. Can customer still join the old reward system?

While your post is not wrong it's not completely correct either. The $2 auto pay reward was earned as long as you registered a credit card or credit/debit card or auto pay to your account. You can still pay via voucher if you want to and earn the $2 auto pay reward.

For get back points you earn 5% back on all purchases through your account that includes add-ons not just plans.

Loyalty rewards are earned after the first 12 months with public mobile. You will earn $1 per month for the first year. Then $1 is added per year up to a maximum of $5 earned per month.

Anniversary rewards are earned after the first 12 months with public mobile where you will receive 10 points for your first year. The following year you learn 10 points after your second year. Anniversary points do not accumulate so you only ever earn 10 points per year. The difference after five full years is $10 worth of points compared to $60 worth of loyalty rewards.

New customers have no option but the points system.

AUTO PAY

OLD (credit) - $2 credit regardless of your plan, nothing for other methods of payment

NEW (points) - 5% of your plans, regardless of payment methods.

You are better off in new reward system: if your plan costs more than $40/30 days or you are paying other than credit card.

Loyalty

OLD (credit) - $1 credit per month (30 days) for every 12 months with PM.

NEW (points) - 10 points ($10 - a reduction of $2) for every 12 months with PM.

With points, unlike the credit system, you will have to specifically apply the points (minimum 15 points) to reduce your bill.

You will likely to see your bills going up and down.  It is kind of ridiculous. PM has the best rewarding system, but it decides to make it less attractive and intuitive to new customers.

PM you are doing yourself a harm in attracting customers. Customers do compare monthly cost, not monthly average cost. With old system, customers could tell friends that "I am paying this much" monthly, next year "I paying this much (minus credit)" monthly.  Now it is like "I am paying this much" this month, next month "I am paying this much (minus $15)". Over all, "I am better off, on average, I am paying this much - minus such" monthly. Is there a simple way for your existing customers to be better ambassadors for your service? Why not the old way applied points (regardless how much) as credit every month?

Unfortunately on January 25th 2022 Public Mobile change its rewards program from $$ rewards to a point system. 1pt=$1 so the earning value is the same but the biggest difference between two programs is the $2 auto pay reward has switched to get back points where you earn 5% back in points on all your purchases. The break even point for this is the $40 plan generally earns 2pts=$2.

However you activated with Public Mobile during their 3× the points back promotion for the next 12 months. So that is equal to 15% back on all purchases. So for example if you are on the $40 plan you will earn $6 back in points.

Anniversary points are the switch from loyalty rewards at $1/30 days per year after the first year to a maximum of $5/30 days. The replacement reward is anniversary points whereas you get 10 points per every year you are with public mobile. This is a much reduced reward after 5 years as you still only earn 10 points per year but old rewards program members get $60 per year. The only really advantage to the anniversary points are if you suspend your plan for more than 60 days they do not count it against your points anniversary whereas with loyalty rewards your increase in loyalty reward is delayed by 61 days or more.

Community and referral points are earned at the equal value as $$ rewards. If you are a self-motivated and spend some time in the community to learn all about public mobile you'll find it as much easier to refer your friends and family and you may also earn a community reward points.

The top 50% and top 25% community rewards are fairly easy to earn they just require popping into contribute to the community maybe once or twice a week. The top 10% requires a couple of times of a week of dedicated time. The top 5% and top 1% categories are a full-time job.....no I'm not kidding! And the $20 or 20 point reward is for oracles only and you could always aspire to that.

Referral rewards are where it's at you will earn the most points by referring your friends and family and by educating them on how Public Mobile works before they join so that you keep them as a customer afterwards if they fully understand what an online only provider is all about.

The other main difference is instead of $$ rewards that automatically apply to your bill after every 30 days upon renewal public points must be redeemed for $15 bill credits or a catalogue full of discounted add-ons. Add-ons are discounted between 25 and 50% if you travel to the US you will get discounted US roaming add-ons otherwise if you're on the $15 plan or choose to change to it after 1 year of earning 3× the points you can then redeem it for discounted add-ons of data for example and when combined with the $15 plan in which you will save approximately $5 for every 1GB of data that you redeem through the rewards catalogue which gives you the $25 plan with 1 GB of rollover data and only 250 MB of plan data which is a much better plan for the money and will save you money in the long run. With smart redemptions you can earn approximately the same in points as you do in $$ rewards.

Look at the other plans for add ons!

PM add ons do NOT expire until they are used up.

HI @xiaoyanwang   you see it not as good because you are comparing with the old one

Other tier 3 carriers have the same plan, same price.  But none of them give you the rewards saving.    So, it is still better and cheaper to join PM then others
