Number transfer issue.

Hi, so I’m a new customer of Public Mobile,

I was originally with Rogers before, I was paying an ungodly amount of money for my phone plan and that’s why I changed to Public Mobile.

But I had cancelled my Rogers phone plan three days before getting my Public Mobile SIM card.
I cancelled my phone plan on December 28 and Public Mobile SIM card was put into my phone on the 30th.

Can I still get a number transfer from Rogers? I want to use my original phone number I had with Rogers. I am texting from a new phone number that I got when I subscribed with my Public Mobile SIM card.
Did I mess up? Is there a way I can get my Rogers phone number back?

HI @KarlyCaron

you can get the phone number back, but you have to contact Rogers and ask them to resume the service first.

Once resumed, you can request the number to be ported into PM.  The Rogers account will then be closed again after the number is ported.  If your Rogers is a postpaid account, you would then only be paying couple days of the service to Rogers, and not the full month.  So, it worth to call Rogers and ask them to resume the service

You will need to contact Roger's to ask if you can re-activate your Roger's plan first.  May need to pay again to Roger's.  Once your Roger's plan is active, then you can submit a request to transfer your phone number via your PM self service account.

Without an active Roger's account, the port will not be successful.

@KarlyCaron

you should not have cancelled your old account until you activated and ported to Public Mobile. Your number is now lost and gone unfortunately. You could call Rogers to see if you can activate your old account for a month to get youer number ported in to Public Mobile.

@KarlyCaron I don't think you will be able to as the old number must be coming from an active account. Once you closed your old account the number was most likely returned to the originating company that first gave it to you (whether it was Rogers or a company before that).

You can try requesting a number transfer from your Public Mobile account, you will need to provide your old Rogers account number but I'm pretty sure it will not work as you account is closed. Something else you can try is calling Rogers to see if there is something they can do
