@Beast Glad it all works out this time.
I guess why it was blacklisted in the beginning, you don't really need to worry, it is just a seller and Samsung issue. But honest, I would be a lot more careful to buy used phone from Bestbuy Marketplace, Ebay, Walmart marketplace, in the future again. The only good thing is that BB/WM/Ebay might have slightly better protection than Kijiji private sell, but in reality, the risk is still quiet high.
Anyway, enjoy your new phone!!

I Picked up my replacement Samsung Note 20 Ultra yesterday. I checked the IMEI first and it matched the box it came in. I checked the IMEI on Device Check Canada web site and it came back good. I tested the PM SIM card first (before using Smart Switch), and this time my PM SIM connected to the network. The seller shipped the first cell phone back to Samsung and are waiting for feedback on what happened. So at this point, I don't know why the first phone was black listed.

@Beast : I'm only wary because they _could_ be up to shenanigans. But they seem to be trying to be decent now anyway. So then carry on with the video of turning the thing on, going to the About page and verifying the IMEI there too. All uninterrupted. No editing. No pausing. Then you have it all on record for any future problems. But maybe that's excessive 🙂

I already checked the IMEI on "Device Check Canada" and its not blacklisted. But taking a video is a good idea as they sent me a picture of the IMEI from the label of the box, and not the IMEI of the phone itself. And your right, it can be blacklisted after delivery too.
03-03-2022 03:37 PM
@Beast : lol they emailed you the IMEI before shipping so they can know that that is the one they sent to you for their own protection. But it works for you too. One would think a seller would do that anyway. Take video as you open the package before opening the box itself and a nice close-up of the IMEI label on the as yet unopened box. Make sure it matches.
Any seller can mark a phone as blacklisted after the fact too.

Apparently they get there phones from Samsung, and Samsung directed them to return the phone back to Samsung to get tested. They were waiting on direction from Samsung on what to do. But they initially rejected my return. I'm going to call back to try and find out why they thought I sent back a different phone. In any case, they shipped me another phone. They emailed me the IMEI so I know this one is not blacklisted. So I hope by this time next week, I'll have my PM SIM in my new phone.

HI @Beast , at least there is some progress , on the good side
I thought your seller try to get away from it by saying the IMEI of the phone you sent back not match the one they have. What made them change their mind?
Yes, it's good they send you an IMEI and you can check when you get the replacement phone. I hope this is the end of it and see you update us again next time using your new phone 🙂
03-03-2022 02:50 PM
I thought I'd give you an update. The third party seller returned the phone to Samsung as they get there cell phones from Samsung. The seller has shipped another phone to replace the one I returned. They provided me the IMEI and a tracking number. The IMEI for this phone checks out fine. Samsung is suppose to provide a status on what happened to the phone I returned in two weeks. I'll call back in two weeks for a follow up. My "replacement" phone is due to arrive on the 7th March. I'll make sure to check the PM SIM card first.

For sure "knowingly". This is not a private sell but a marketplace "shop", they know clearly that the need to put IMEI on the invoice to protect themselves and the buyers. I don't think they will make such a silly mistake .

@Beast wrote:No IMEI on the invoice. I have a Walmart invoice and all it states that it was Certified Refurbished.
@Beast Walmart is just the middleman. The only thing they do is that they try to give you some protection but they know NOTHING about the product sold or NOT much about the resellers,
Honest, with what they did and how they deal with it, I am pretty sure you won't see this retailer in Walmart marketplace soon. They likely will flee once they sold all the "stolen" products
and in your case, they try to put the blame to you saying you didn't send back the right item. Honest, it is up to Walmart to judge who to believe and you don't have a strong case. The only thing you can lay the blame is emphasis the fact that they NEVER send you the IMEI in any invoice or email or anything, so, they have no proof that they are telling the truth.
I hope you get back the money, come back and let us know who it turns out.

@Beast This seller is not trustworthy.. that's why in the beginning, I asked you to just get the refund if you have a choice. They try to use this excuse to not give you the refund as well as stay on Walmart website for business (too many complains or saga like this, they would get kick away)
didn't they send you an invoice with the IMEI? They should have for warranty purpose.

@Beast Yes, like SD card will not make a come back to any new Samsung phone.. I am a big fan of expandable storage on SD .:(
hope everything works out for you and you get your new phone soon

The number still works in my old cell phone so I'm sticking with my "old" number.

The third party cell phone seller sent me a Canada Post return label. I returned back to the supplier in the original package. The Canada Post has a tracking number so I know it arrived back at the supplier. I'm waiting for a replacement Cell Phone. As I'm currently not home and working remotely at a different location, I'm only get home fro time to time to check my mail. I'll request an update from Walmart. I checked into an S22 and found out it doesn't have expandable memory for a micro SD card which was one of my requirements. I had already priced out a 1 Tera Micro SD card for the Samsung Note 20 Ultra and would like to stay with my choice of Cell phone for now. I'll let you know the out come. MTF.

@Beast How's everything? you got a refund or exchange?
02-12-2022 05:35 PM
It took a long time to charge up yesterday evening but I'll keep it in mind.
I should have checked the SIM card first.
02-12-2022 05:33 PM
Nov last year I purchased certified iPhone XR and even it was coming from a friend, I checked SIM in it right away and battery charging to 100% and drain to 5% in 49hrs. with normal usage. I put it in case and protected with a screen protector. Done.
02-12-2022 05:30 PM
Many a times we see the posts for blacklisted devices sold as pre-owned/refurbished device.
First thing to check is battery drain and charge cycle. SIM/IMEI check. I wouldnt mind a screen change only.
02-12-2022 04:16 PM
If I don't get this phone cleared up by seller on Samsung IMEI tracker, I'll definitely consider it.

LOL.
depends on the case you got.. i always use Clear case 🙂
hey serious.. S20 Ultra for your price.. for a 2 years old phone is too much.. get S22 Ultra.. you can get Black or other colour.. you pay around $300 more .. but your phone would get another 2 or 3 years longer for support.. it worths it in the long run

You can find cheaper phones.
But one of my requirements was black.
They're harder to find in black.

Edit:
Refurbished on amazon.ca $975
Kijiji $700 and up. New, like new, etc.
I would never buy refurbished. Never had bad issue with kijiji.

I was looking for Black...not Cosmic Gray.

If I wind up returning this Cell Phone back to Walmart, I definitely check out Perkapolis.
I'll gift myself the latest Samsung phone after this experience.
