My apologies, I've tried finding the answer here but am not getting exactly what I want.
I have downloaded the Move to iOS app on my LG. At the Allow App Location Permissions page, it sends me to Settings (I allow) and then it sends me back to the Allow App Location page again. I'm going in a circle. Is this even the right way to do this? Other info, can't remember if I have a physical or eSIM in my LG. On the XR, I've gotten to the Apps & Data page and am not sure how I want to transfer apps and data. Options: transfer directly from phone or move data from Android. I tried directly from phone but it requires a Ctype to old iPhone cable which I don't have. Looks like I might need to purchase an eSIM? I'm just so confused!
Solved! Go to Solution.

hi @SimonnB
if you have a a physical sim card, you can insert it now
and then click the "Move Data from Android" and follow
you also have to make sure you download the :Move to iOS" app on your old LG device using wifi

@SimonnB Inserting the sim card is only transferring your Public Mobile account/phone number to your new phone. Does this how-to from Apple help?

Sorry, which one below is your yes for?
Is now when I follow your advice starting with 'Move Data from Android'?
Or do I do this before I move the SIM card?

yes @SimonnB
please follow
or you might need a friend with iOS experience to help. Or simply bring your phones to Apple store for professional help

The LG SIM is now in the XR. Both phones need to be on the same WIFI in order to do the switch. I can't figure out how to connect the XR to WiFi because I haven't got to that screen yet.

This seems too easy! I've removed the PM SIM card from the LG and inserted it into the XR.
I still end up with this screen. What do I do next?

@SimonnB I've realized I don't have a SIM card in the XR. This means I need to purchase an eSIM?
Check the LG for a sim card slot. If there is one open the tray and see if there is a physical sim in it. If there is you just need to take it out of the LG and put it in the iPhone.

So good so far! I finally got passed the location request...but now I've realized I don't have a SIM card in the XR. This means I need to purchase an eSIM? But if I can't download the PM app to the XR because I can't get past this page...unless I choose Don't transfer apps and data? My head is spinning!

my apologies...I didn't realize you also needed to activate your new iPhone also. The instructions supplied by @hTideGnow will help you get the new phone up and running correctly.

hi @SimonnB
this is a phone transfer part, nothing to do with the network. Use Wifi or cable
click "Move Data from Android"
then Download and open "Move to iOS" on your Android phone: Download the "Move to iOS" app from the Google Play Store and open it.
Follow the on-screen instructions: Your Android phone will guide you through scanning a code displayed on your new iPhone, and then you'll need to enter your old Android device's passcode.
Transfer your data: Once the connection is established, your iPhone will download the data from your Android phone.

Hey! When I turn on the iPhone XR, it has me go through a setup, asking for language and country first. Then it wants me to set up manually since I am not going from iPhone to iPhone. This takes me to the page asking how I want to transfer apps and data. I can't download the PM app until I get through this part.

hi @SimonnB
just to add, if you have trouble logging in the PM app, click Didn't receive code and select Send email or send voice message (with voice message, you can call back to check the 2FA message from any other phone)
after you login My Account, go to Account page, click Purchase sim card and choose esim

PM service and account have nothing to do with phone hardware you have.
If you have Physical SIM just pulling it from old and pushing it into new phone makes a switch.
If you have eSIM then it is different story as you would need to ask for a new free eSIM from the agent.
As for transferring data from one phone to the other you would have to do your own research as this has nothing to do with PM service.

just download the Public Mobile app to your new cell...then log in to your account and "buy" an esim. The esim will end up being gratis.
