yes, porting with IMEI number might not work, account number is safer
Call the porting team and 0rovide the Bell account number and they can re-trigger the process for you.

Hi I need to provide my Bell mobility account number. I used my IMEI but Bell rejected it. Told me that public mobile needs to resent porting request with my Bell mobility account number
