Text and data should work fine, but phone calls require a VoLTE compatible phone, which you don't have. If it's important to you, I'd recommend upgrading your phone.

@LesE  My phone is a samsung galaxy A8 sm a530w

No that phone will not work for voice calls in the USA as @kb_mv noted.  It's not even on the approved list for AT&T, one of PM's US roaming carriers, regardless of Public Mobile's list which takes precedence.  Try manually connecting to 2G on T-Mobile just in case it still exists where you are located.

@LesE Your phone is not on PM's list of VOLTE compatible phones. You can try connecting to T-Mobile. If you're lucky, you will have a 2G signal to make calls. A work around is to get TextNow. You get a free number and it uses your data for the calls.

@LesE   What phone do you  have?  It sounds like a VoLTE problem, is your phone on this list?

If your phone is not enabled for VoLTE by Public Mobile you can try connecting to T-Mobile's 2G network but it is being shut down as of 1st September so is getting spotty.  There's no 3G network in the USA since 2022 which is why everyone there had to get a VoLTE capable and carrier approved phone by the end of that year.

If this is the case you can download a voip app like Fongo or TextNow to make calls since your texting and data are working.

@LesE   Which country are you  in currently, and what is it you can't send or receive, is it phone calls or text messages or both?
