I am moving from Ontario with area code (416) to Alberta area code (780).
Do I need to change my number? What are consequences or considerations?

you have no obligation to change the phone number. But for ease of use, for people calling you from that new area, it might be better to change the number
But 780 is a AB area code. if you change to 780, then you will enjoy cheaper tax. PM charges tax based on area code of the phone number. So, you will only get to pay cheaper AB tax if you change to AB phone number

@jocefrenette You don’t have to change your number at all , thing to remember is you pay the tax rate based on the area code of your phone number . So trick for you would to be buy payment vouchers in Alberta , and load them *611 in Alberta paying Alberta tax rate and keep your Ontario phone number . Best of both worlds.
