Considering purchase of iPhone 14 phone that is locked to PM. Ok with sticking with PM, but essential that I can migrate existing number from current Bell SIM (on a iPhone 12 that gets returned to Bell at end of 2-year term). Possible?

Wow! You guys in the PM Community are amazing! Thank you so much for your prompt insights and support. I also apologize for the proverbial head-scratching about the “locked PM” phone. Mea culpa—the phone that is being sold is locked by Optimum Mobile, an American firm. Very sorry for providing this wrong information, but thank you for reassuring me about why Public Mobile is the way for me to go post-Bell!

I am not sure if PM sold a CPO iPhone 14 so it wouldn’t be locked by PM. Also as of 2017, Canadian carriers are not to lock any phones. The iPhone 14 was introduced in 2022 so do you mean that the phone is financed by Bell?
Yes, you can port your Bell number over to PM but only the iPhone 12 need to be returned Bell once your contact expires.

Interesting. Public mobile only sells pre-owned phones that are generally not locked to the carrier. However, iPhone 14 is not one of the phones that was ever sold. Are you sure that it is locked to Public mobile? Who are you purchasing the phone from?
Any Telus locked phone should work with any of the Telus mobile companies, including Koodo, Telus and Public mobile.
It is possible to port from Bell and other Canadian mobile companies.

@Coleewops iPhone 14 sold in Canada should be all unlcoked
and Yes, you can port your Bell number into PM.
If you have not activated with PM yet, , you can do it via Step 2 on Activation. Choose I want to bring my existing phone number with me and provide your Bell Account number as the porting information (not IMEI) for best success
if you are with PM already, then go to My Account's Profile page and click Change Phone number and then Transfer Phone number

If you phone is locked to PM it has to be old phone. I would suggest to ask PM for unlock code.
Yes, you can transfer your Bell number to PM.
- Get new PM SIM card.
- Open PM account and activate SIM. You would need unique email and to pay a bill right away for the next 30 days of service.
- For starters pick any phone number in your desirable area code. (You can initiate transfer number when you activate SIM but I personally prefer this way not to mess things up.)
- Verify all services work as expected: SMS/calls/Internet.
- Initiate number transfer at old provider; BOTH accounts have to be active and in good standing.
- KEEP old SIM in your phone; you will receive transfer authorization request very soon.
- Reply Yes to request within 90 minutes.
