My account shows I have 499 of 500 international long distance minutes remaining.
i am going to Mexico on vacation, can I call home to Canada free of charge using those minutes?
Thank you

Hi @DJWhalen
When I used my phone in MX while on a road trip/tour with friends I went to a Mexican telecom and purchased a sim card and a plan for not much money. Lucky for me I was traveling with a friend who spoke Spanish and helped me to make the deal at the store. Connecting to wifi while out and about in town felt risky and often it wasn't working. If you just stay at a resort this might not be as much of a concern.

nope...those minutes are available while the call originates in Canada only. My recent trip to Mx, I was able to communicate using WhatsApp as long as they also had WhatsApp. There's an app called Line that I've used in the past. TextNow works as well...uses your local wifi to call / text most any US or Cdn number for gratis.

Hello @DJWhalen
Public Mobile only works in Canada and the United States. Sadly it will not work in Mexico. Fear not. Here....
https://www.airalo.com/mexico-esim
You can purchase something like this. A data only card. Then, while you're here in Canada, you can download TextNow with a local number and keep in touch with your friends and family back home at no charge cause TextNow is free.
Or... https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/use-your-phone-in-mexico-canada if you stop off in US first or maybe a day trip before your trip to Mexico.

HI @DJWhalen
sorry, the Long distance call is to call from Canada to other countries and not to be used when you are outside of Canada and call back. Also, PM does not have roaming service in Mexico
Best way to call back is to use VoIP app like TextNow or Fongo to call back Canada using the app for free on Wifi or use app like Whatsapp
