Invoice total

Hello. I am considering a Public mobile $34 Canada/US plan. I would like to know from someone that has this plan, the total of the monthly invoice. Would this $34 plus HST, or is there hidden charges such as 911 service and so on. Thanks in advance.

@Hteik, my wife was there last month in Florida and it worked very well on T-Mobile. We believe the reason why it worked best on T-Mobile with her Samsung Galaxy S10+ is because even though her phone supports VoLTE it is not on PM's whitelist of devices. Below is a summary of her experience which may differ from your phone especially if your's is on PM's whitelist, then you should have no problems using AT&T as well.

T-Mobile: Calls going out and in worked, texting out and in worked, data works
AT&T: Calling out does not go through, calls in go to voicemail after one ring. Texting out and in worked, data works
Verizon: Her phone said something like SIM card does not allow it, no calls, no texts, do data.

So she had to manually select T-Mobile (she took the Automatic setting off). Again, depending on your phone you may find AT&T works as well or better. Some have said Verizon worked for them in other parts of the US. Just be sure to keep you Data Roaming ON so that you can access these US carriers

Thanks eddieO. Can i ask how your experience is with the service when you travel the US. This is really my biggest concern as we will be spending a lot of time in the US. I now have my service with Videotron which has good coverage, but pricing is not that great.

hi @Hteik  i would to add, the bonus is definitely something that most other carriers do not have.  You save at least 5% out of it.  

the phone service itself is solid as it is basically Telus (it uses Telus and Bell networks).  Support is all online and it could be tricker in the beginning.  But the Community, PM customers, will try to help as well

And before you join, make sure you get a friend code to get a one time saving for $10

eSIM and physical sim card (via Canada post delivery) is currently free.  But if you want physical sim and don't want to wait for delivery, get the PM sim cards from Telus or Koodo stores for $5, or via Amazon for $5 with Prime next day shipping

@Hteik, if you are potentially new to PM they also introduced a revamped Public Points system back in May (it's definitely not as good as what the legacy customers were getting on the old system but it's better than nothing). On a $34 plan you would get 5% back in points with each payment = 1.7 points, and each year on your anniversary you will get 10 points so you could potentially get 30.4 points in a year, 1 point = $1. You can redeem 15 points towards a $15 bill credit thereby bringing your cost down a bit more

best is that it is prepaid, so no overage (unless you buy extra data, or LD call or roaming addon yourself, but you buy before you use)

The support is different, but I am ok with it, no complain

The no hidden/extra/other feees is a matter of Public Mobile pricing policy. It is unrelated to the service being prepaid.  There are other carriers that do, or have, charged additinal fees in combination with prepaid plans.

@Hteik I have this plan and yes, it's $34 plus tax (I'm in Ontario so 13% for me, comes to $38.42) that's it, no hidden fees, nothing extra. One really nice thing about PM is that because it is a prepaid service they will not charge you extra for anything, if you haven't paid for something it simply will not work
