I signed up for Public Mobile yesterday. It keeps telling me invalid phone number when I enter my 10 digit Canadian phone number to complete the activation. I had previously tried to transfer my number to PC Mobile, but they were having a system issue that day and were unable to receive my number. I feel like this is part of the problem, but PC Mobile has now told me several times the port request has been cancelled and the number is released. Telus tells me they can still see a transfer request is in progress and as such they cannot do anything until I contact the receiving provider. You can see where I'm going with this... I have been stuck here for 3 days now and have already paid for my first month of Public Mobile service. I am unsure of where to go from here.

Getting the temporary number just ensures you have working services in case there is any further issues with your port.

It's a Telus phone # and/or currently with Telus so unless you are in a more remote area of Canada (there's a couple of places in Newfoundland for example) that has no Telus exchange your phone number can be ported to Public Mobile since it's owned by Telus.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm waiting to hear back from a Public Mobile agent now. I am going to use e-SIM so I don't actually have a physical Public Mobile SIM to insert. My concern is that I accept a new phone number and then my old one is not able to be ported. Then I've spent $40 on a plan I won't be using.

Ask the Public Mobile agent to assign a temporary phone # to your account and confirm all of your Public Mobile services are working then have them submit a new porting request to Telus. Put your Telus sim card back in your phone and reply YES to the porting authorization text. Then switch back to your Public Mobile sim card and restart your phone. Porting should be nearly instantaneous.

I never had a PC Mobile SIM card. My Telus one is still working but I was trying to register for PC Mobile with an e-SIM and never managed to successfully activate it. PC Mobile has said my transfer in request was cancelled but Telus says my number is still being transferred and they can't access it. Meanwhile it says invalid phone number when I try to transfer it to Public Mobile.

is your PC Mobile sim card still working? can you use that to make outbound calls or receive inbound?
