How do I rectify this? I submitted a ticket, I will hopefully get an answer in 48 hours. In the meantime the number I transferred from the old provider is not working with the old provider (because I transferred it). And I cannot use my new Public Mobile account even for the first time. I know the card is defective, because the message in all the 3 phones I tried is "No SIM", and all other SIM cards work in those phones.
Is there any way out of this, or I am stuck without service for days?
Thank you.
P.S. The phones I tried are all unlocked.

Thanks to everyone for the input. With the help of a moderator, the problem was resolved. I purchased a new SIM card and they transferred the number to it and everything's fine now.

It does sound like you may have gotten a bad sim card or it could have not provisioned correctly.
Welcome to public mobile!

The SIM card can be changed but you would need the help of a moderator to attach a different SIM card to your account.

Is it possible to change the Sim card without the original pne ever being used?

@ditcho you want to try to go to a retail to get another SIM? Even it is a faulty SIM, you might not really want to wait for their replacement.. this might take long..
(how long you have waited for this one?)

Phones are Ok. When I insert the old SIM from Freedom, I get “No service” message. When I insert the Public SIM, I get “No SIM”

hTideGnow ,
Porting team has no access to the Public Mobile account. If there's an account issue, only a Public Mobile moderator can help.

I believe that calling the Telus Porting Team would be a bad idea. Porting issues would not cause the service not to work for something such as outgoing calls, nor would it make the phone report "no SIM card". In this type of situation, a customer would not want the number port to be completed (if it already hasn't) as this would mean that the number would be ported to a non-working Public Mobile service. The ability to use the phone number at the old carrier would also be lost at that time.

I created the account today. Just received my first SIM card in the mail. It is saying "No SIM".

@ditcho : I wonder if you mis-typed the SIM # on activation but typed in a valid number nonetheless. I think defective SIM's are extremely rare.
What providers were those other phones with?
Can you set the phone to LTE/WCDMA/UMTS/HSDPA/4G/3G etc and also set the phone to automatic network or scan manually for Public Mobile and select it.

@ditcho how long you have activate the account?
where did you buy the SIM from?
So, it was saying No SIM and not SIM not provisioned?
