@Joelle2 - ensure your public mobile plan is Active. Addons will only work on an Active plan.
Try restarting your phone, or perform a reset of the device's network settings to help connect to the proper network while in the USA.

Search how to add a US package. You'll need to make sure you add funds to your account to cover the cost of the added package.

HI @Joelle2 first, did you check if the US add-on shows up on your My Account?
And what kind of roaming add-on ? Talk? Text? Data?
Did you see it connected to T-Mobile or AT&T? Try to connect both and see which one works
If you have roaming data, make sure you enable Roaming Mobile Data on your phone seetings
