I am currently with PM, but am thinking of temporary moving to Telus because of the international trip (I would like to keep my Canadian number while I am travelling). When I return to Canada in five months, I would like to move back to PM with the current number (I will keep the same number with Telus too). Telus wasn’t sure if I would be able to do so and suggested to confirm with PM before I move to Telus.
I would appreciate for your advice. Thank you.

by design, customers can reuse their email address after they left. And that works well most the time. Only some odd cases that people cannot reuse the email address and need PM CS agent to clear it

Thank you!
Sorry, the way I wrote was confusing. When I move back to PM on my return to Canada, I will cancel Telus. But I want to keep the same number I currently have with PM after moving it once to Telus. From your advice, it sounds like this is possible if I create a new account with PM again. This is great. Thank you!

You cannot have the same number with two mobile companies.
However, you can port your present number to Telus while traveling (FYI: Your PM account will be closed).
When you return back to Canada, you will need to activate a new PM account (with new physical SIM card or eSIM ) and then you can port your number back from Telus (which will close your Telus account).

@Yosh you can port your number to Telus , but it will close your public mobile account so then to come back to public mobile you can do that and port back in when your back but need new sim and new email and keep your same phone number , but you can’t have the same number for both providers and you also risk not being able to have same plan you currently have with public mobile would be the only other thing . Hope this helps , enjoy your trip too BTW
