How to add Add On

Sanuda

This is freaking frustrating. My son is going to US for three weeks and I am trying to add US Add one, and no way I can talk to an agent. If no one contacts me before Saturday evening( that is tomorrow) I will cancel my two public mobile connections . Thank you

@Sanuda

Due to the decommissioning of the 3G network in the US voice services with public mobile will likely be sketchy at best. The workaround is to download a voip provider app like textnow. Choose a Canadian phone number. This can be used for calling and texting while on wifi for free or with mobile data. The mobile data component can come from purchasing a 10 day US Roaming Data add on or using a local sim card (try tello) for mobile data.

If you purchase a pm 10 day US Roaming Data add on the clock starts immediately after purchase (add funds then select, confirm and submit the purchase.) The add on will expire 240 hours later. If you wish to purchase the same add on again you must wait out 24 hours for it to reappear in the self serve accounts add on's page or contact customer support to add it for you during the 24 hour waiting period. Purchasing during customer support business hours (6am et to 10pm et/7 days a week) will ease in getting a second identical US Roaming add on purchased with a CSA's assistance just pre-load the funds and contact customer support.

After purchase once your son is in the US he will need to enable roaming, reboot his phone and manually select either T-Mobile or at&t. With or without a US Roaming add on he will be able to recieve incoming SMS text messages. The textnow app will allow SMS texts to be recieved or sent as well as voice call to be recieved or sent. Mobile data will allow for MMS texts to be sent or recieved along with RCS chat or iMessage. All but MMS will work on wifi MMS requires mobile data.nò

If a local sim is chosen for use then it's recommended to also download a voip provider app like textnow but before leaving Canada call forward the pm sim card's phone number to the voip provider's chosen Canadian phone number. Once forwarded remove the sim card and place in a safe place (like an unused micro sd card slot in the phone) so that it does not connect to a US cell tower as this will cause the call forwarding to default back to pm voicemail. Otherwise all incoming calling will ring thru to the voip app on the phone on wifi or mobile data from a local sim card. The local sim card will offer full mobile services but the voip app will also be available for SMS texts and voice calls.

If you don’t have anything helpful to say, why do t you mind your own business mate?

@Sanuda

Thanks Ross. As a parent, I registered my own email when I bought the packages for my two sons because I am the one paying the bills, but when it comes to Add ons, nothing seems working and it was really frustrating and your reply helped a lot. Some of the responses I got was about living in a free world, or that I am threatening the community , may be from people who have no clue of the responsibilities of a parent I guess

@Meow

 Not planning ahead! They think they can get faster service and staff will call them right away…not.

They are welcome to go to another carrier at higher prices.

@Sanuda It would be a lot cheaper to buy a local sim when he gets there

WHY do you think threatening will resolve your problem??? PM has NO live support and you are aware of that very well.

All support is done over personal mail with the agent if issue is account related. All other support is provided by PM customers dedicating their personal time for FREE here in Community.

You are free to leave PM at any time, we still live in a free country.

Purchasing an add-on after logging in into your PM account is a two-step process. You need to load funds first and then purchase add on.

  1. Add funds to your PM account: Any funds to buy add-ons come from your balance, so manually add funds to your available balance first.
  2. Buy Add-On: You will actually buy the add-on after you add funds to your account or else you won't have funds to actually buy the add-on. Funds to buy add-on come from Your account (after adding funds in step #1) and not directly from your credit card.

Purchased Add-ons should show up on Plan Details page. Bonus add-on should be on Overview/Main page.

All countable features will show up on the overview page. Unlimited features show up in Plan Details. ie. roaming talk and text.

@Sanuda for services to work in the USA, you need to have ROAMING addons. Other regular addons only work on active accounts whilst in Canada.

If your son is away for 3 weeks you will have to overlap addons of different types if you want continued services...I mean after that first 240 hours is up, there is a glitch you cannot add it again for another 24 hours.

OR, you can have CSA add it for you

I know, all kind of a pain.

Get Help Article and Roaming and things for reference:

Consider a local sim if you don't want to deal with it, but it is doable.

@Sanuda Hi first thing do not add the add on until he is ready to go it starts right away, go into his account when the time comes go to plans and add on see which one he wants put the money in the account then go back and pay for it , it’s a two step process

@Sanuda   Adding add-on is a 2 steps process, 1. load fund 2, go back and back.

do you see the money stilling on the My Account's Available fund?  If so, you missed step 2. The actual buying

But you do not need to buy until Saturday.  The add-ons are good for 240 hours only, start counting from the moment you successfully purchased.
