How long after signing up to activate

I want to get the promo rate that ends on Dec 2nd, but I already paid until the 17th with my current provider.  Can I sign up now and only start the service and transfer my phone on the 17th?

@gjr26 if your current provider is post paid, they will give you a prorated refund for any unused days.

@BKNS27 are you sure about that? If the plan doesn't exist after Dec 2, you can still activate it after?

@gjr26  Both accounts must be active in order to transfer your phone number, so if you intend to transfer I would do it before the last day of your current service to give time in case there's a delay.  Definitely don't cancel your current provider until you are sure the number has transferred over, it will happen automatically during the switch.  If your current provider's account is post paid you might want to check if they give a pro-rated refund for days not used after porting out (unlike Public Mobile which is prepaid and does not).

Yes you can but you have 30 days to complete the activation of the SIM/Account.
