I think I boned myself thinking a number I call a lot would be long distance, it's an hour and a half away drive time but the number counts towards my 100 talk minutes. This is no good to me as I just bought 500 long distance minutes, who am I supposed to call to use up 500 long distance minutes?
do I have to dial a 1 in front of the 7 digit number for it to be long distance?

That's what I was hoping to do, have the 500 minutes as a back up for when I go 20 minutes over my 100 minute allowance. The whole point of getting public was to use the 500 minutes as a back up, that way I pay 15 per month and every 4 months or so I buy 500 more minutes to 5 dollars.
So if you are saying that's how it works and I did not get this plan in ignorance, I am happy enough.

@MgSo4 , if you call the number a lot and it continues to work, that means your included usage is covering those calls. It is likely the 500 minute long distance add-on is not useful.

@MgSo4 it's not bad to keep the 500 min there. it won't expire. So it is a good as a back up in case you used up the minutes in a month. (I assume you are on the $15 plan)

Are you on the $15 Canada Wide calling plan with 100 outgoing minutes. These will be used up first in each cycle before your 500 minute add on. This add on will roll over to each cycle until used. It is good to have as a safe guard in case you use up your 100 minutes in a cycle. Put a 1 in front for long distance calls. You can put a 1 in front of a local call too in Canada.
