US Canada 5G plan

ARCANGEL

I have this plan and it says unlimited minutes within US and Canada. Why is there a prompt saying Long distance charges may apply when I dial an 808 number (which is not in the list of exceptions). I am still in Canada and will be traveling to the US

@computergeek541 is bang on. It's still long distance, even if it's free with your plan. Also, in my experience I don't get that message if I dial a 1 before the area code and number. I only get that message if I dial the 10 digit number without the area code.

Also note that there will never be surprise charges with Public Mobile as it's a prepaid service. If you haven't already paid for it, it simply won't work.

The audio message before the call proceed is because the call really is long distance.  The Telus systems do not check if a plan already includes long distance to a calling destination before playing back that message.  It is meant as a warning, but the word "may" is used because there are no charges if it's already included in your plan (which it is).  This warning message is a throwback from when it local callng areas were more of a factor.  It was intended to be a way to inform customers that a call wouldn't be documented as being a local call.  Ignore the message and in the future, dial a 1 before the area code to avoid hearing it again.

@ARCANGEL  This is just a guess, but perhaps so that people understand it's not toll free, since that is the area code for Hawaii?

I'm curious where you see this. Simple fact is this. Public Mobile is a prepaid service. You prepay for what you want. There are no extra fees period. Can you share where you see this?
