How do we claim the 1GB referral add-on?

I see people posting on the forums about a 1GB data referral add-on for both the referrer and the referree. 
How does one actually get this?

I activated with PM yesterday and then my husband did as well with me being the referrer. I have the bill credit for referring someone but what about the data? Did I have to do something special?

@Snyper, that promo expired on Nov 20, 2017.  So you are not eligible for it.  Sorry about that.
