I haven't been able to call out since I set up my phone 2 days ago, and I don't have the patience to deal with the CS anymore. I just want to switch to another provider. If I set up with another company and buy another Sim am I good? Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, I have an IPhone 16 pro, this was going to be a phone for my son, so I was not concerned about the security aspect. It Is merely a phone so he can make emergency calls. But with the way the network has been lately here in KW ( switching from 5G, to LTE to 3G; and dropping my data when switching towers) its probably time for a new network.

hi @Jason1999
The A20 was released back in March 2019 and has not received official software or security updates since mid-2023. For your own data protection and security, it’s probably time to consider getting a new phone anyway.

Why wouldn't PM put this info on the compatability page? When I search phone compatability this or the IMEI checker to ensure the phone is compatible do not show up.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to have this problem. I can only assume it is intentionally done as a quick cash grab for those whose phones don't work.

The 850 MHz is about network connection, you can use data with this phone without issue, but just not VoLTE. It is another protocol and PM allows to limit list of supported phones for easier management

Where does one find this White list? The A20 operates on 850 MHz, which PM operates.

A20 is not on the PM's whitelist and it won't. It is too old to be in the whitelist. So, if you are not changing phone, you really need to look elsewhere

Thanks for taking the time to post; I gave your suggestions a try without luck. Sorry I didn't mention I'm using a Samsung A20 that was on Roger's about 8 months ago. I spent the first day going through the forum and trying to resolve the issue myself, before using the chatbot and choosing to message a cs.

Maybe the community can help
What phone do you have? is your data working? just not calls?
have you removed your old provider sim card yet? Make sure PM sim is the only one enabled and set as Primary. Reboot phone and reset network settings and try make calls again

I do understand where you're coming from. However, Public Mobile is a self serve service and the community can sometimes help you with things. Although it seems CS agents weren't able to though... how about this, let me just share some things. I'm not sure if you've tried them but hey, they are super easy to do.
The code 7B1 error basically means you're not connected to the network. There are a few easy fixes for that.
1. You can place your phone into airplane mode for 10 minutes, turn the phone off for 5 and then turn it back on and turn off airplane mode.... while you're watching the Blue Jays game of course. LOL
2. Resetting your network settings. Sometimes, when you've ported your number over from another provider or you've used your phone previously on a different provider, their network junk can remain and interfere with PM's network so you don't properly connect. Not sure what phone you're using, but if you can go into your settings, enter Network Reset in the search bar, it's super easy to do. Then, just reboot the phone.
3. And finally, sometimes this works as it did for me when I was setting up friends phones. Take your SIM card out, put it in a different phone and restart that phone (if you have a spare available). Sometimes the SIM card needs a kick in the butt to get working. If that works and you get signal and your connected, just slip it back into your phone and reboot.
I know this can be frustrating but.... at least we tried.

Hey @Jason1999
It's unfortunate that CS agents couldn't help you figure it out. I'm kind of curious though... what issues were you having that you couldn't get it to work. Also, what phone were you trying to get it to work on?

hi @Jason1999
if you need to cancel, you need to ask PM agent too.
Submit ticket with Customer Support through Expert Messaging in one of these ways:
If you cannot access My Account/PM app, use this link: https://widget.telus.tiia.ai/publicmobile/publicmobile.html
please use the same Community account login you are using now to login and submit ticket

If you just want to cancel, log in and turn subscription off.
If you want to port your number to another provider, you'll most likely need to get service working, then you can port it out and the account should automatically cancel itself after that. Don't cancel before porting as you won't be able to complete it.
