How do I add a international to my existing plan

I need to add international plan to my existing plan how do I do this and what is it called. Need for my son to be able to text me from Ireland

For your son to be able to call you, you need a talk plan and a texting plan to receive texts from him.  It never matters for you where someone calls or texts your from (unless of course you're paying your son's bill).

If your current plan includes international text messaging (most texting plans at Public Mobile do), you already have the ability to send him text messages.

To call your son, you can add the international calling add-on for $15 for 400 minutes, but only if his number is a number in Northern Ireland (UK).

If by "Ireland" you mean Repblic of Ireland (southern), Public Mobile services cannot be used directly to call there.  You would have to use another service to make outgoing calls to there, although there are long distance calling companies that can be used to make these calls in conjunction with your Public Mobile service through the use of calling cards/online prepaid minutes.

While in Ireland, your son will need a local sim card as PM won't work there.

Alternative is he can get a free voip app like TextNow that will allow him to make and recieve both text and talk for free.

You don't need any additional things as you already are able to send and recieve texts from anywhere...while you're in Canada.

I see you've selected my answer as a "Solution" to your question. A bit premature.

We need to know ...#1 - what plan you currently have. ...#2 - does he have a Ireland sim or is he trying to use Public Mobile because PM won't work while in Ireland.

You do not need to get international plan to receive text from your son. Your son phone requires international calling or texting feature.

Which plan do you currently have. log into My Account and Plan Details. Do you want to be able to just call or call & text.
