How do I Transfer my account to a different person

john37

I made an account to get my granddaughter a phone and a number while she was living with me. She has moved now and her caregivers need the account transferred into their name. How can we do that?

@john37

If you are transferring your granddaughters account over to her caregivers to manage for her then other than contacting customer support to change the email on the account (presumably her caregivers will give you the email address they want on the account) you can edit any of the sensitive information on the account yourself.

If you used information that you would prefer to keep confidential then you should edit the following info to a generic name, place etc....then pass the newly entered info on to her caregivers who can edit the info to their preferences.

  1. Name and address. (ie. Jane Smith, 123 1ST AVE, ANYTOWN, PROV, 0X0X0X**)
  2. 4 digit account pin #.
  3. Password
  4. Payment card (Only customer support can remove it but you can replace it.**)
  5. Voicemail pin # (if you have used the same one elsewhere on one of your accounts.)

Change any of the above information if you have used any of it on your own personal accounts to keep any personal identifiers confidential and/or account security info private.

**Leave your postal code or change it to an actual postal code if you decide to just replace the payment card with a $0 gift credit card. (The new caregivers can then replace the gift credit card with their preferred method of payment.)

If you like you can send me a private message and I can supply you with the info of a $0 visa or m/c gift card. An old roommate left a stack of exhausted credit gift cards that I am happy to share with community members that need a card registered to earn the old $2 autopay reward and/or those who want to remove their credit card without the hassle of contacting customer support everytime they need it removed.

The other advantage to having a payment card registered on the account (even though autopay would fail as it would be declined) is it is used as an account verifier if ever a normal verifier such as the account pin # is forgotten etc....and it does need a real postal code to be accepted by the payment system. It's easiest to just match it with the one on the account for credit gift cards.

Once you have edited any or all of the info on the account that may present a security risk I strongly suggest you disable 2FA on the profile page until the account transfer is complete and the new caregivers can decide if they want to enable it once they take over the account.

Contact customer support as per the methods supplied in previous posts when you are ready to change the email and/or remove the payment card.

HI @john37

Login to My Account and change the name, address, or those info first

open a ticket with CS agent and ask them to help removing the credit card on the system, and update the login name (email address) to the email address of the caregiver.

Then you can pass the account to the caregiver and ask to to try to login (or request password reset) .  Make sure you remove the caregiver to add a credit card for payment

@john37 - has the My Account/Self Serve been created for this account? If so, then log in and put whatever name you like. It really doesn't matter whose name is listed in the My Account; it can be a made up name if you wish.

If no My Account was ever created, you can submit a ticket here to: Create or forgot My Account email or password link

I think most importantly, is if you do have My Account access is to have the email changed over to the person who will be managing it. So if you need the email changed to a registered My Account, you will need the help of CSA to do this.

All you need to do is contact customer support to change the email to one of her choice and it’s probably a good idea to also change the payment card on file to one of her payment cards if she’s going to be paying for it.  That’s something you can do through your self-serve site under the payments tab.

Simple as that.

To contact a Customer Support Agent to change the email address associated with the account, if necessary, there are 2 methods:

  1. Use the ticketing system for a faster response time. Click here and type Customer Support Agent, then select Contact Us, then select Other (or the topic that more closely matches your request).  Click the result which states Click here to submit a ticket and follow the prompts,  or,

  2. Send a private message to the Customer Support Agent by clicking here  You’ll need to be logged into your Community account for the link to work.

Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.
