I'm new to PM, still learning. I'm on $30 plan - Unlimited Province-wide Talk.
Today I've tried to call local Vancouver number (778), but got "you don't have long distance add-on" message. Guy I've tried to call to is on Freedom mobile, he was also here, locally. What's up with that?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Did it really take 2 days?

@ranchero76, Thanks for following up. So often, people ask a question, get some info, and then we don't know what happened.

Just little follow up - moderators took care of this issue (forwarded it to tech). So far my experience with PM very positive - great community and support.

There are many but here are 2 from Ontario with same issues

You can always ask Mods to just give you a Long Distance add-on while issue is being solved if it is a long wait

This issue has been asked and answered many times
@ranchero76 for some reason whenever Freedom gets a new block of numbers the people on Provincial Public plans can not call them
In old days it took a LONG time to fix (90+days) but today resolved very quickly
It is weird it seems to only effect Freedom and the conspiracy theorist whispers about it but it is what it is
Send your number and number you are dialing to mods
You can also test this is an issue by dialing any other number in same exchange
eg 416-555-0001
-0002
-0003
etc

wrote:@ranchero76, I'm not sure if you're calling what is a long distance number that happens to be geographically 'local' to you, or if you're calling from one area code to another.
Can you answer these quick qquestion, so I can understand the situation?
1. You've said you have a province wide calling plan. What province are you in currently, and what province is your phone number from?
2. Your friend on Freedom mobile with the (778) area code. You mention they are 'here local'.. where is "here" ?
I would venture a guess that OP probably has a legacy 604 number. 778 is a newer area code for the lower mainland, although it is well aged by now. Where the friend is located at the time of the call is not important, just the area code of the phone number. The location of the friend and impact to the call is on the Freedom end.
This service has had some odd ball issues with area codes. I had problems with toll free area codes when I first started using this service. I am not sure if anything was done to my account, things just started working on its own.

In that case, you will need to send a private message to the Moderator_Team with your account info so they can take a look at your accoutn and see why you are unable to make calls to some numbers.

Try dialing 1 in front of the number you are trying to reach.
