Is there anyway to find a owner of a phone with a public mobile sim?

@Leithel1  - keep it charged (if you can) maybe they will find you.

If it was an android with contacts on the SIM could you not try in another phone?

Pull PM SIM out and contact agent providing SIM info. Explain you found a phone and ask agent to contact owner (if they have backup number). Agent might be reluctant to give YOU owner's info but they definitely can find a way to contact original owner (email?)

@Leithel1  Yes as @softech mentioned send a message to support with the sim number. They have been helpful in past on getting phone back to owner. After that put sim back in and try turning on so maybe the person will be able to use find my phone to locate it or try to call it.

With a locked screen it's more difficult. But you can take the sim card out and put it in your phone. Then when you go to about phone in your phone's settings you should be able to get the phone number. If it hasn't been reported lost/stolen in their account you will be able to call/text your phone with their sim card or a another phone to get the phone number as well. If its been reported lost/stolen with service cut off you can still leave a message as voicemail will still be active.

 

You can also find the IMEI # of the phone and send it, the phone # if retrieved and the sim card # to customer support and they should be able to locate the owner and pass on contact info for them to recover their phone. 

 

If after a week or so goes by and no one has tried calling it ( keep it powered on and charged) then turning it into your local police station would be best. In the meantime an ad in the lost and found section of Craigslist couldn't hurt with a basic description and a request that the owner contact you via email and call their phone.

@Leithel1   I  heard similar situation  before.    She opened a ticket with PM and PM support asked her the number of the SIM

 

So, open a ticket with PM support with the SIM number you saw on the SIM itself.  To open ticket with PM, use Method 1 if you are PM customer and have access to Self-Serve My Account.  If you don't then direct message to PM Support using Method 2 below:

 


1. If you have access to Self-Serve My account: For faster response (2-48 hours) , Click on the bubble in the lower right to request CS Agent assistance, or use this direct link: https://publicmobile.ca/chatbot.

Start with typing "Submit a ticket", click "Contact Us", click "Other" from the choices, click "Click here to submit a ticket". Then follow to complete the ticket submission.


2. If you don't have access to My Account or have trouble with above method: you can Send a private message to the CS Agent here: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437


**Monitor your Community inbox, envelope on the top right, after ticket is opened.  CS Agent will reply and work with you  via messaging there
