Does anyone know if there is a setting in your profile so you can't go over your data and not get double charged. My daughter keeps going over her data limit and then I get double charged for the month. I would like to know if there's a way her data can just be stopped when she reaches her limit until the next cycle starts.
Thanks.

Sounds like your daughter is going to be getting a job to cover the extra expenses.

the reason you got double charged was because PM sent a text and ask if she wants to buy extra data add-on and she replied Yes to get the data via text
only way is to block the text from PM so your kid doesn't get it and cannot reply Yes. Anyway is to remove the credit card from the account, and then you load the voucher every 30 days for renewal. Without the card, your kid cannot order new addon herself
I can confirm that this has been the case for at least a half a year now.
If you reach the data limit on a 3G or 4G plan (ie a plan without unlimited data) the text entices you to buy an add-on which is charged against the payment card on file.
Be aware that even on the 5G "unlimited at throttled speed after bucket is used" plan, they will send one of those sneaky texts, promoting an add-on for 1GB ($15) or 4GB ($40) at full speed...
Very sneaky. And for all those that have shot me down in the past when I said that this is not an improvement, the OPs scenario is a classic case of why this is not a good thing. Oh yeah, and they have to hop through the hoops to actually getting the credit card removed, since we can't be trusted to that either.

Yes you are correct, my daughter admitted she gets text messages when she's at her data limit asking if she wants to purchase more data and she replies yes and it charges my credit card again. It never used to be like that. when I started her on the plan. I would manually purchase extra data for her on the website. Thanks for your reply!

That's how it used to be. Now my daughter gets text messages when she's at her data limit asking if she wants to purchase more data and she replies yes and it charges my credit card again. It never used to be like that. She just admitted it to me. Thanks for your reply! Had a talk with her. All is good.

Yes, already went through this with my son years ago with Fido.

LOL @Mitchy1
Might be a good time to have a sit-down chat with your child. Kids can be fairly resourceful when opportunities present themselves.
been there, done that

@Mitchy1 how is that possible? I was told that Public Mobile does not charge you for going over your data and that you cannot go over your data because it's prepaid.
There is nothing to stop anyone from finishing their data before the next cycle other than you (her)stopping it.
If you have an Android in the phone Settings, if you go to Connections, there is something that says Mobile data, you can set a limit there. It will give you a warning whenever she is close to the limit based on what you put.
Even though I dont need it, I do this for my own phone. Its a good way to track.
