Dear Public Mobile Team,
As members of the community, we appreciate your efforts in providing affordable mobile services to Canadians. However, we would like to request a free or low-cost GPS/GPRS access option, especially for those who rely on navigation and basic internet services but may face financial constraints.
Why This Matters:
Essential Navigation: Many individuals depend on GPS for daily commuting, work, and emergency situations. Free basic access to location services can be a huge help.
Community Support: Providing a minimal data allowance for GPS use would greatly assist seniors, students, and low-income individuals.
Emergency Readiness: Ensuring access to essential online services, maps, and emergency alerts can improve public safety.
Suggested Solutions:
Zero-Rated Data for GPS Apps: Allow free usage of Google Maps, Here WeGo, or other navigation apps.
Community Data Programs: Introduce a small free data package for essential services.
Partnerships for Public Wi-Fi: Expand free hotspot zones for those in need.
We believe that by implementing such initiatives, Public Mobile can enhance digital accessibility and further solidify its reputation as a customer-focused provider. We would appreciate any consideration and look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
Best regards

This is an unworkable suggestion. It's actually illegal to make data free for specific apps.

@RaviSingh You don't need any data to use the GPS on your phone. You can get any number of GPS apps that include downloaded maps. You can even use Google maps with pre downloaded maps for the coverage you need. Again no need for any cell signal or data to use GPS.

Who is the "we" that you speak for? I don't think your ask is at all reasonable.
In any case, as has been mentioned Public Mobile staff don't monitor these forums.
