Do I need to contact Rogers after I have ported my 3 lines to PM?

Hi, myselft and my two daughters had a shared plan at Rogers, I was the account holder. We have all switched over to PM (including our cell numbers) without any hassle whatsoever! We are so happy to be part of this community that answer so quicly and clearly :). So does anyone know if we need to do anything, do I need to call Rogers for my final bill or simply wait for it to come in the mail or by email? TIA.

PS: WOW Mobile did the connections here in Montreal and Vancouver, they were awesome!!!

I just ported over my phone from Telus and received an email immediately after doing so saying that my mobility service is to be cancelled today. Did not have to contact them, even better.  Was not looking forward to being on hold for ages only to try to be convinced to continue overpaying for my plan.

Usually, as soon as the phone number is transferred, the account with your Old Service Provider becomes inactive.

Just to be on the safe side, in case they are working under a different procedure, I think it's a good idea to give them a call.

You have nothing to lose.

i disagree with this advice. All Canadian carriers are mandated and must terminate the service for the customer automatically the instant a number has been ported out.

Unfortunately, many customers do not understand that when a request is made to port a number to Publc Mobile, the procedure doesn't finalize instantly.  If this customer calls Rogers thinking that the number porting is complete, and tells them to cancel the service, Rogers will do as the customer has request and the number porting to Public Mobile will fail.

Except for some rare exceptional circumstances, the only reason to contact Rogers after the port to Public Mobile has been inititated would be to settle any bill.

One other thing to be aware of, if you are sharing data, it might be a good idea to avoid using data on your Rogers phones until the port is complete. My sons had an experience with another provider that the second phone was the last to port and the port took 2 days. It cost him $38 for the two days of data overage. Welcome to PM, no overages here !!

You don't need to contact Rogers.  Your plan/s with them will automatically be cancelled once your number/s have been ported.

Do pay attention to your Rogers bill, though, when it comes, and make sure that they have pro-rated  your bill appropriately.

You don't need to contact Rogers.  Once you ported all your lines, your accounts were closed.  You might be sent a final invoice from Rogers with anything owing or refunded.
