No worries. While you're in the "Mobile Data" screen, also turn on Mobile Data Options to Roaming On.
How to change Network Operators on iPhone
Press Settings

Press Network Selection

Press the indicator next to Automatic and turn it off.

Then pick T-Mobile for US usage.

Then swipe up and close. It’s best to reboot if possible.
You should be good to go.

HI @Nae
first turn on data roaming
Go to Settings. -> Cellular or Cellular Data. Then: If your device has a single SIM card or eSIM, turn on Cellular Data, then tap Cellular Data Options, and turn on Data Roaming
Next, you need to try both T-Mobile and AT&T and see which network works. Try both
Go to Settings -> Mobile Data > Mobile Network.
By default, Automatic is selected. Turn off the Automatic option.
You will see a list of available carriers below the screen. Select one carrier from the list and test t

So sorry, I have an iPhone 12

You are still roaming (even though there are no extra charges), so yes you need to enable data roaming on your device.
Also set Network Selection to AUTOMATIC and Preferred Network to 4G/LTE.

Do you have an iPhone or Android?

@Nae TMobile and AT&T are public mobiles roaming partners in the U.S. Verizon will not work for example just the first two mention work while in the U.S.

Hey @Nae
When I was in the US, I turned on data roaming and I also went to network settings and turned off automatic and chose T-Mobile. Then I rebooted and I was up and running. It was awesome. Nice not having to pay for add ons anymore. Enjoy your vacation!!

@Nae Yes you need data roaming turned on in phone settings , while in the U.S. some just leave it on when in that plan as it won’t affect being at home

Do you need data roaming turned on even when you have a CAD/US package. (Not to be confused with the 24 roaming add on package)

@Nae Set phone to 4G/LTE not 5G and connect to T mobile or AT&T and ensure you have data roaming turned on in phone settings
