Consistently Poor Reception / 1 Bar in My Area — What Are My Options?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing consistently poor cell reception in the area where I live. I usually get only 1 bar, and my calls drop frequently unless I physically move away from my home. It feels like my neighbourhood might be a dead zone for the network.

A few questions I’m hoping the community can help with:

Is the Public Mobile Community the right place to raise this issue, or is there a more direct support channel for reporting network coverage problems?

Since Public Mobile uses the Telus network, should I also raise this issue with Telus, or is that handled internally?

Are there any steps I can take (device settings, network resets, signal boosters, etc.) to improve reception at home?

Is there a way to request a coverage check to confirm whether my area has known network issues?

Any guidance would be really appreciated — I just want to understand how to get this resolved or at least know whether there are options available.

Thanks in advance!

I know that you're speaking about your specific location and usage, but locking onto 3G is generally no longer recommended for customers.  The 3G network is only going to get worse over time both coverage and capacity wise until decommissioning.

I am not a tech expert, but if that is the closest cell tower, your main location is likely in a weak spot.  See what the customer service agent says.

From previous customers, CSA has referred to a Telus network technician (takes a few days)  and they go in depth on the network.  That is how I got that website (from a previous post)

This is what it shows. I am on the slope of a ridge. @Dunkman What do you think, does this look okay?

@umnikke8 Where do I find this list? Yes, my calls drop and fail all the time.

Hi @hTideGnow

I have a iPhone 16 Pro. How resetting network settings would help?

I have submitted a ticket already.

Here is a link to a cell tower map:

Check for the nearest cell tower to your location.

You can check the coverage map to see if you are in a weak zone. If your phone isn't on the VoLTE supported list you might also being having increasing problems with calls.

hi @pranav_shar

what phone do you have? did you try Reset network settings?

and 1 bar could still be sufficient for a stable connection.

but if you want to report the problem, you don't report to Telus directly.  You need to report to Public Mobile.  Please submit a ticket with CS Agent using Chatbot here:
