I'm on a very old, grandfathered plan with Public Mobile from 2016
I would like to change to one of the Boxing Week Plans: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/plans?network=BOXINGWEEK
I cannot see this option when I log into my profile. I only see higher priced options for the same plans. Does Public Mobile not allow people to change plans unless it costs more than your current plan?

@hairbag1 Not really relevant when you consider their current plan is $120/90 days for 12GB (or averaged our is $40/30 days for 4GB).
Dropping monthly spend by 14% and gaining 18.5x the data at faster speed, and including Mexico, seems like a no brainer. They're already in that position of not having many downgrade options, and this actually improves that situation.

just remember...you're likely to not be able to downgrade plans substantially, once you've upgraded to a more expensive plan.

True - I shall make the change! Thank you 🙂

but you can make the change to the $35 plan you want using the way we present you
and while the plan price is similar to others, you still earn 5% here, plus friend points if you brough any friends here

Thanks Eddie

Thanks! Yes, I think I'll just move forward with this "trick". Appreciate you.

Thank you! That's a bit disappointing, they're essentially forcing customers to look for workarounds. As my account is pre-paid, I dont see much of a waste. I appreciate the response, I suppose I'll have to do this process in order to change my plan.

Many able to first use Change now to change to $30 plan, then the $35 plan will appear and you can then use a Change on renewal to schedule another plan change to the $35. not a direct way, but a working way

@eddieO As of just a few minutes ago someone was able to do this workaround successfully. Not to say that will be the case tomorrow, but as of now it still works.

@erinkim256 the problem you have is that if you wait for closer to 24 days the Boxing Day deal will likely be over since it's showing that it ends Dec 31. so you have to decide if you are willing to lose the 24 days remaining so that you can get on the cheaper $30 plan. Again, I cannot guarantee that you will have the $35 option afterwards but it seems that others have been seeing it

@erinkim256 So if you changed now to the $30 plan, you'd be losing out on about $32 that you've already prepaid for your current 90 day plan. IMO it's worth it to get access to the Can/US/Mex plan, but that's a personal choice. You could also wait another week to do it and get that cost down to about $23 (it's $1.33/day for your current plan).

The way PM gives these news offers is they only target customers on cheaper plans and the offers will always be more expensive than the current plan you are on.
One way to get around this is to switch to a cheaper plan then the one you see advertised, once you are on the lower priced plan, you may see an offer for the plan you want if it is higher than what you are currently on.
Keep in mind, which changing plans if you select "change now" you will waste the current months payment/data and they wont refund you the difference, so it is usually in your best interest to "change at renewal" to not waste the current cycle's payment.

I usually hate playing games with providers, but there is such a stark difference between my current plan and what's being offered that I might have to switch. I've been using Public Mobile without issues since 2016, I would love to find a way to stay and get a new plan that would work for me.
My old plan used to be great with the old discounts, however right now the 90 day plan for $120 for 4GB/month is really not competitive anymore

I have 24 days left in my 90 days cycle

@erinkim256 I can't guarantee it will work as I'm not an employee of PM (no one here is) but we have had a few customers say that they were able to switch to the $30 plan by choosing "Change now" option (keep in mind this option will change you immediately and bill your credit card right away and you will loose any remaining days that had already been paid. Then after changing to the $30 plan the other customers say that they are then able to see the $35 Canada-US-Mexico plan. If you have the same plan offered afterwards you would select "Change on renewal" so that you do not forfeit more days that you have already paid for. Change on renewal will lock you in for the future plan change so that you do not miss out on it

i have a grandfathered plan - $120 for 90 days at 4 GB / month that rolls over. Unlimited provincial (not Canada-wide) talk. I was fine with it until recently, as I've been finding myself needing to call and travel down to the US and Mexico more often for work. I've been purchasing eSIMS but obviously keeping one phone / one sim would be a lot better.
I am looking to get the boxing week for $35 for Canada-Mexico-US calling + 1000 / month long distance + 75GB of data. I really do not see any downside to changing in my case, especially since they discontinued the discounts I used to get for being a member since 2016

How much time is left in your current 90 day cycle?
My current plan is $120 for every 90 days. I dont think I have any plan renewal date, as I haven't changed this plan since 2016.
I see the $30/month option so I suppose I could downgrade and upgrade, but I'm a little surprised that they want customers to go through that flow. I see the same plan that I'm looking for (the $35 plan you referenced) but it's only offered for $45 / month
7 hours ago
If it's not available on your account you can't get it. PM has targeted plans and also plans only for new customers. If you leave an old plan that doesn't exist anymore you will never be able to get it back. So make sure that's what you want to do before changing. Since boxing day is almost here I would recommend looking into other providers to see if anything better is out there

@erinkim256 in a nut shell your are correct, PM does not make it easy to downgrade to cheaper plans. If you happen to have at least one plan option at $30 you can change to that one and then within 24hrs you should see the option for the $35 Canada-US-Mex plan where you can select "Change on renewal".
How much is your current plan, and when are you scheduled for a plan renewal?
sorry , if you don't see it, you cannot change to it
but what plan you have now? which plan you want to change to and what are the plan choices you have on your own profile?
