Change subscription will it enable 5G?

My current subscription is only 4G 23/mo.

If I change it to 29/mo, will it enable 5G?

Those on a 4G plan do not have access to Public Mobile's 5G speeds.  While all customers who have compatible phones do have access to the 5G network, the maximum speed avaialible on 4G and 5G plans are different.

It appears that the $29 5G plan is now only 10GB. Yesterday it was 20GB. That is a 50% drop in data. I suggest that you wait for a better plan to become available.

@h2z you shouldn't need to do anything. My change was seamless. It should take effect upon changing subscription. Maybe as others noted, you will have to restart, but I didn't (as noted by @hTideGnow  I also have my phone on automatic network selection).

what phone do you have ? a 5G phone? but even only a 4G phone, your speed would be closed to the top speed promised on 5G plan

you might want to make sure your network mode is first set to Automatic and then reboot the phone once.

Do you REALLY need that speed? Many customers report they never reach full speed so it might be waste of money. But it is yours to spend...

You always have access to the 5G network regardless of plan (assuming a 5G compatible phone). On your currant plan, speeds would be restricted to 4G speed or 100 mb/sec. If you switch to the Can US Mex 5G plan you will have access to the 5g network but at speeds "up to" 250mb/sec.

Do you have a 5G phone? If not, it won't make sense to do so. Many say they have a 5G phone with 5G plan and the speed is still not good anyway. 

Even with a 4G plan, you still get good speed. No matter which plan you're on, you still have access to the 5G speed.

It depends on so much like location, time of day,  interference, towers etc if you will get good speed or not.
