Cannot receive pictures in text messaging

SamsungA53

I joined Public Mobile yesterday and started with basic $15 plan which provides 100 minutes, 250 MB of data and unlimited text and picture messaging.

I have a brand new Samsung A53 phone and when someone texts me picture, I click "download" but picture is not loading. I have MMS on auto download, but it still doesn't work.

Please help.

My old Samsung somehow did cell data automatically. My current Samsung does not. But there's an app called Samsung Band Selection that can get to a toggle that turns it on.

You get the notification of the presence of an MMS. You open the texting app and tap the item and it downloads. So it turns on cell data briefly to get it and then off again.

You're correct. Thank you!

Works as a charm.

Glad I switched.

I had mobile data turned off (because I use Wi Fi at home and can also use Shaw Go Wi Fi outside).

Once I enabled it, pictures download with no problems.

Thank you !

OP could go into settings and disable Data to any apps that don't get used often. I have the same $15 plan and usually have data left over using the method I suggest.

In order to receive/send pictures - MMS - DATA has to be ON even though your data allowance will not be used.

@SamsungA53   to send and receive MMS, you need your Mobile data turn on.  Yes, you just need to turn it on but it won't consume your data.  So, make sure the mobile data is enabled and try again

Of course, you might want to turn it back off after you are done with it

@SamsungA53

long shot, but make sure Data is enabled on your phone.
