Cannot Send MMS

Zanderif1
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

Phone: Sony Xperia XA2 with Android 9 install

Disabling of MMS for Public Mobile is described here:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/picture-messaging-updates
I've applied the patch applied here:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/set-up-data-on-an-android-phone
I've also gone through the guide here:
https://apn.how/ca/public-mobile/sony-xperia-xa2-plus?_gl=1*1tzrv7a*_up*MQ..*_ga*MjI1MzkxMjI3LjE3MTA....

I've reset my phone, but still cannot send MMS, though I can receive them.

I do have RCS enabled, but only two contacts on my phone also have it enabled. Effectively, I cannot send text images to other people on my list.

New phones don't have the features I find important, so I'm not changing my phone. I would much rather pay more monthly and keep this phone, instead of buying a new phone and staying on this plan.

Is there something else I can try to resolve this issue, or is the conclusion that should I move to another carrier?

The final solution was to contact support, and have them reset the network in my account.

Thanks for the help, everyone!

@hTideGnow Thanks for that, I've started a conversation with an agent.

@softech Thanks for the reply,

Unfortunately, I can't delete the default APN from the list of access points, but I can confirm that the new one is selected with the settings described. The selected APN persists through a phone reset, so I'm pretty confident it's using that one, though I haven't run it through wireshark. 😛

@Zanderif1

if  simple update and Reset networks do not work,  there might be a bit more work then simply updating.  Many confirmed that you need to delete the current APN profile first.  Then Add new profile and add according to this, please note case-sensivitve and do not add extra spaces.  Remember to save the new APN and then reboot the phone before you try

Hello @hTideGnow, thank you for the quick reply!

I tried updating the proxy to the IP address and the port specified, instead of the url described in the link above (mmscproxy.mobility.ca) and reset my phone. This did not fix it.

I also tried performing a full network reset, which updated to the address you described as well. After a phone reset, this also did not resolve the issue.

Any other troubleshooting tips should be appreciated.
