Can’t send/receive calls or texts or connect to network

Hi, we signed up with public mobile yesterday for our son heading out of country on a school trip and needing to be able to text/call where he’s going. We tried to port his old phone number from Telus, but it didn’t work. We even called Telus customer service and they couldn’t do it  So we decided to cancel that account and just get a new phone number with Public Mobile but now it won’t connect to the network and we can’t send or receive Phone calls or texts. We got an eSIM when we signed up (old telus account is a physical sim) and double checked the IEMI number was compatible. It said it was.  In settings, we have the Public Mobile data line turned on, and the Telus line turned off. There is no phone number listed under the Public Mobile line and when I try to add it in settings, the save button doesn’t work. I’ve tried restarting my phone. Didn’t do anything. I’ve also tried the chat bot help, and can’t get anywhere I just go in circles. Feeling very frustrated and my son leaves tomorrow on his school trip. Can anyone anyone help?
